{"id":739038,"date":"2019-11-06T12:57:07","date_gmt":"2019-11-06T12:57:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2019\/11\/06\/tarkwa-takoradi-road-to-be-dualised\/"},"modified":"2019-11-06T12:57:07","modified_gmt":"2019-11-06T12:57:07","slug":"tarkwa-takoradi-road-to-be-dualised","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/11\/06\/tarkwa-takoradi-road-to-be-dualised\/","title":{"rendered":"Tarkwa-Takoradi Road To Be Dualised"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>The current state of the Tarkwa-Takoradi road<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Western Regional<br \/>\nMinister Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah has hinted that the Takoradi-Tarkwa road<br \/>\nproject will be a dual carriage one.<\/p>\n<p>He mentioned that the<br \/>\ndualisation of the highway would be captured in the government\u2019s 2020 budget<br \/>\nstatement and economic policy, which would be read by Finance Minister Ken<br \/>\nOfori-Atta this month.<\/p>\n<p>The minister was<br \/>\nresponding to a series of complaints made by residents and motorists about the<br \/>\ndeplorable nature of the Apowa-Agona-Nkwanta road and the Takoradi-Tarkwa<br \/>\nhighway.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the residents could not fathom why the road that<br \/>\nleads to Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality\u2014 an area<br \/>\nthat produces gold, manganese, rubber, timber, cocoa and other natural<br \/>\nresources \u2014 could<br \/>\nbe in such deplorable state.<\/p>\n<p>The people, including<br \/>\ntraditional rulers and opinion leaders, had also embarked on a series of<br \/>\ndemonstrations to protest the bad nature of the road.<\/p>\n<p>Even though several<br \/>\nmaintenance works had been undertaken on that stretch of the road, it has deteriorated<br \/>\nquickly due to the axle loads of haulage trucks that ply the road.<\/p>\n<p>One could count close to<br \/>\nhundred huge gullies and ruts on that stretch, causing vehicular breakdown and<br \/>\naccidents almost every day.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on<br \/>\nTakoradi-based <em>Skyy Power FM<\/em>, Mr. Darko-Mensah<br \/>\nnoted that construction works on the Takoradi-Tarkwa highway were\u00a0set to<br \/>\ncommence following a cabinet decision to include the project in government\u2019s public<br \/>\ninfrastructural projects.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cJust recently some rehabilitation works were<br \/>\ninitiated by JUSTMOH Construction on the Takoradi-Agona-Nkwanta stretch but was<br \/>\nhalted for some proper engineering work to be taken on the road. We are in the<br \/>\nprocess of getting JUSTMOH back on the road and do the proper scarifying,<br \/>\npatching and pavement and some asphalt,\u201d he pointed out.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe the Tarkwa<br \/>\nroad project will be captured in the 2020 budget which will be read in this<br \/>\nNovember, or better still will be mentioned by the President in the State of<br \/>\nthe Nation Address in January next year,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Darko-Mensah mentioned<br \/>\nother road networks in the Western Region that would soon be constructed are<br \/>\nthe Bawdie-Suroso-Samrenboi-Asankrangwa road and Bogoso Junction to Huni Valley<br \/>\nroad.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>From Emmanuel Opoku, Takoradi <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The current state of the Tarkwa-Takoradi road Western Regional Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah has hinted that the Takoradi-Tarkwa road project will be a dual carriage one.
