{"id":739007,"date":"2019-11-06T12:19:39","date_gmt":"2019-11-06T12:19:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2019\/11\/06\/kids-study-under-trees-due-to-abandoned-getfund-project\/"},"modified":"2019-11-06T12:19:39","modified_gmt":"2019-11-06T12:19:39","slug":"kids-study-under-trees-due-to-abandoned-getfund-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/11\/06\/kids-study-under-trees-due-to-abandoned-getfund-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Kids Study Under Trees Due To Abandoned GETFund Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>A scene during the visit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pupils of Saediya Islamic Primary School in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region have been compelled to study under trees due to an abandoned GETFund classroom block project.<\/p>\n<p>A visit by <strong><em>DAILY GUIDE<\/em><\/strong> to the school revealed that the pupils had been studying under trees for over 10 years.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the pupils who spoke to <strong><em>DAILY GUIDE<\/em><\/strong> said they mostly got distracted during classes hours because people and stray animals loitered around the school.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can\u2019t hear or learn well because the animals are always making noise while people pass by with their bicycles and motorbikes,\u201d they complained.<\/p>\n<p>They said they were not able to go to school during rainy season due to lack of shelter. They, therefore, appealed passionately to government and other institutions to come to their aid.<\/p>\n<p>When <strong><em>DAILY GUIDE<\/em><\/strong> contacted Mohammed Abu Baba, the East Gonja Municipal Education Director, he acknowledged the problem and said it was impeding quality education in the area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we really want to have quality education, the child shouldn\u2019t be studying under conditions he or she is not comfortable with,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n<p>He said the assembly had been contacted about the abandoned GETFund project and it was making efforts to complete the classroom block for the school.<\/p>\n<p>The Sustainable Development Goal 4, which Ghana is a signatory to, talks about ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FROM Eric Kombat, Salaga<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A scene during the visit Pupils of Saediya Islamic Primary School in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region have been compelled to study under trees due to an abandoned GETFund classroom block project.
