{"id":738148,"date":"2019-11-05T10:37:05","date_gmt":"2019-11-05T10:37:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2019\/11\/05\/ndc-pds-hypocrisy-sickening-npp\/"},"modified":"2019-11-05T10:37:05","modified_gmt":"2019-11-05T10:37:05","slug":"ndc-pds-hypocrisy-sickening-npp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/11\/05\/ndc-pds-hypocrisy-sickening-npp\/","title":{"rendered":"NDC PDS Hypocrisy Sickening &#8211; NPP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Yaw Buabeng Asamoah<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The<br \/>\nNational Communication Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw<br \/>\nBuaben Asamoa, has stated that the Government of the United States respects the<br \/>\ndecision by Ghana to terminate the Power Distribution Services (PDS) Concession<br \/>\nAgreement, saying the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is only<br \/>\ndisplaying hypocrisy about the issue.<\/p>\n<p>He<br \/>\nsaid at a news conference in Accra yesterday that the \u2018noise\u2019 by the NDC would<br \/>\nnot deter the NPP government from staying focused and doing what is right for<br \/>\nthe people of Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>According<br \/>\nto Mr. Asamoa, the NDC members continue to make unsubstantiated allegations<br \/>\nagainst NPP leaders including the President on the PDS deal but said it was the<br \/>\nstock-in-trade of the opposition party and asked Ghanaians to disregard them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe government<br \/>\nwill continue to seek the welfare of Ghanaians and will not yield to the noise<br \/>\nand unsubstantiated allegations of corruption. President Akufo-Addo and his<br \/>\ngovernment are focused on ensuring Ghana becomes a better place and would not<br \/>\ndo anything to jeopardize the future of the country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He<br \/>\nstated that what Ghanaians are happy about is the fact that there are no power<br \/>\ncrisis or dumsor as it was witnessed during the Mahama NDC era, and said<br \/>\ndespite all the challenges with the power distribution system, the government<br \/>\nhad been able to work for the people.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Economy &amp;2020<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The<br \/>\nNPP Communications Director revealed that the NPP would not allow the NDC which<br \/>\nby all intent and purposes seems to lack ideas to dictate the campaign<br \/>\ndirection of the 2020 general election.<\/p>\n<p>He<br \/>\nsaid the NPP has a solid record for the campaign and would direct the focus of<br \/>\nthe election to the economy.<\/p>\n<p>He<br \/>\nindicated that the NPP had performed well in the management of the economy<br \/>\ntaking the country from a stringent International Monitory Fund (IMF) programme<br \/>\nwhich was bequeathed the country by Mr. Mahama to a working economy.<\/p>\n<p>Outlining<br \/>\nsome of the successes chalked up by the government in the area of the economy<br \/>\nincluding growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP), drop in interest rate and<br \/>\ninflation, among others, the NPP challenged the NDC to come out with their<br \/>\nstory on the economy after it was humiliated at its own economic policy lecture<br \/>\nby a former Governor of the Central Bank of <em>Nigeria<\/em><em> (CBN),<br \/>\n<\/em><em>Professor<\/em> Charles Chukwuma Soludo, recently. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Bereft of ideas<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mr.<br \/>\nAsamoa added that the NDC\u2019s decision to solicit for ideas from over 30million<br \/>\nGhanaians in order to write their manifesto proves that the party is bereft of<br \/>\nideas and should not be allowed anywhere near governance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn<br \/>\nopposition, you have all the time to do a lot of things, if with all the luxury<br \/>\nof time at your disposal, you still need to collate views from 30 million<br \/>\nGhanaians, then you have no business thinking about coming into governance,\u201d he<br \/>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>He also<br \/>\nspoke about some successes chalked up by the Akufo-Addo administration in the<br \/>\narea of education, infrastructure, among others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Referendum<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He reiterated the position of the party on the upcoming referendum, urging Ghanaians to come out in their numbers and vote \u2018yes\u2019 for the referendum which is scheduled for December, this year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>By Nana Kwasi<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yaw Buabeng Asamoah The National Communication Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Buaben Asamoa, has stated that the Government of the United States respects the decision by Ghana to terminate the Power Distribution Services (PDS) Concession Agreement, saying the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is only displaying hypocrisy about the issue.
