{"id":736365,"date":"2019-11-02T09:17:12","date_gmt":"2019-11-02T09:17:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2019\/11\/02\/nicaragua-seeks-ghana-support-to-join-au\/"},"modified":"2019-11-02T09:17:12","modified_gmt":"2019-11-02T09:17:12","slug":"nicaragua-seeks-ghana-support-to-join-au","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/11\/02\/nicaragua-seeks-ghana-support-to-join-au\/","title":{"rendered":"Nicaragua Seeks Ghana Support To Join AU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>President Akufo-Addo in a handshake with Denis Ronaldo Moncada Colindres<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nicaragua<br \/>\nis seeking Ghana\u2019s support in its bid to become a member of the Africa Union<br \/>\n(AU) with an observer status.<\/p>\n<p>This<br \/>\ncame to light when the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the South American<br \/>\ncountry, Denis Ronaldo Moncada<br \/>\nColindres, paid a courtesy call on President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee<br \/>\nHouse in Accra yesterday. Mr. Colindres\u2019 visit was to deliver a letter from his<br \/>\nPresident, Daniel Ortega, to the President of Ghana. <\/p>\n<p>Speaking during the meeting, Mr. Colindres<br \/>\nstressed his country\u2019s desire to join the AU to strengthen ties between the<br \/>\nvarious African countries. He expressed hope that Ghana would support the bid of<br \/>\nhis country in that regard.<\/p>\n<p>He communicated the Nicaraguan President\u2019s well<br \/>\nwishes to President Akufo-Addo and his government for the handling of Ghana\u2019s<br \/>\neconomy and its democratic credentials.<\/p>\n<p>The minister expressed<br \/>\nhis country\u2019s desire to foster stronger trade, investment, culture and economic<br \/>\nrelations with Ghana for the common good of the respective countries.<\/p>\n<p>On his part, President Akufo-Addo said the<br \/>\nexisting relations between the two countries, which witnessed a major boost<br \/>\nwhen President Ortega visited Ghana during the Rawlings\u2019 era, would be<br \/>\nrekindled.<\/p>\n<p>He took the opportunity to invite the<br \/>\nNicaraguan envoy, his President and the people of Nicaragua to Ghana for the<br \/>\nyear-long celebration of the \u2018Year of Return\u2019. <\/p>\n<p>He indicated that the two countries shared common identity and history, expressing hope that the government and the people of Nicaragua would find it worthy to visit Ghana for the celebration.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>By Charles Takyi-Boadu, Presidential Correspondent  <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Akufo-Addo in a handshake with Denis Ronaldo Moncada Colindres Nicaragua is seeking Ghana\u2019s support in its bid to become a member of the Africa Union (AU) with an observer status.
