Aviance,
\nGhana\u2019s premier ground cargo and passenger handling company operating at the Kotoka
\ninternational Airport (KIA), has marked its 25th<\/sup> anniversary with a series
\nof activities this month. Highlights of the celebrations included rebranding of
\nthe company, a donation of food stuff and provisions to inmates of the Accra Psychiatric
\nhospital, health screening and an awards ceremony to reward long serving staff
\nfor their contributions to the growth of the company. <\/p>\n

Established in October 1994 as the African Ground
\nOperations (AFGO) the company has successfully handled Ghana\u2019s cargo imports and
\nexports at the KIA for the past 25 years. After over 10 years of successful
\noperations, AFGO was renamed as Aviance Ghana, a part of the international
\ngroup.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n

Aviance introduced modern ground cargo and passenger
\nhandling equipment at the KIA to ensure the provision of quality services
\nconsistent with the requirements of the International Air Transport Association
\n(IATA). Aviance also introduced the use of modern security gadgets, renovated
\nand expanded infrastructure at the KIA to position it as an aviation hub in
\nWest Africa. <\/p>\n

At
\na grand durbar to climax the anniversary celebrations, Joseph Kofi Adda,
\nMinister for Aviation, commended the management and staff of Aviance for their
\nimmense contribution towards the development of Ghana\u2019s aviation industry and
\nfor the many jobs and business opportunities created. <\/p>\n

As
\nfar as security is concerned, the Minister said government would be vigilant to
\nensure that the industry maintains the score Ghana earned at the recent
\naviation Audit leading to the nation earning awards in Montreal, Canada. He
\nurged Aviance as well as other ground handling companies to stay on the right
\nside of the law, as far as gold smuggling, money laundering and drug
\ntrafficking are concerned. <\/p>\n

The
\nDirector General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Ing. Simon Allotey,\u00a0 congratulated the Board, Management and staff
\nof Aviance Ghana for its 25 years of providing excellent cargo and passenger
\nhandling services at the KIA. The Director-General noted that about 4.1 billion
\npassengers were conveyed on 38 million international flights last year and
\nthese figures are expected to double in the next 15-years. <\/p>\n

Mark
\nKamis, Managing Director of Aviance said he would continue to work hard with
\nhis team to strengthen and sustain the gains made by Aviance as the leading
\nground handling company in Ghana. <\/p>\n
