Former President John Kufuor<\/strong><\/p>\n

FORMER PRESIDENT John Agyekum Kufuor has poured cold water on the
\npublic outcry against the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE).<\/p>\n

According to him, the teaching of the subject would rather make
\nchildren aware that they have to allow nature to mature them. <\/p>\n

\u201cWith the improvement of educational standards, there is no way
\nCSE will impact negatively on school-going children as being asserted by a
\nsection of Ghanaians,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The former President made the remarks during a courtesy call paid
\non him by the management staff and pupils of ANJEF International School from
\nAshaiman at his residence in Accra. <\/p>\n

His remarks followed questions posed by some of the pupils
\nregarding his opinion on the subject; he expressed opposition to what he said
\nis the negative perception about CSE.<\/p>\n

The subject, he went on, would rather serve as a bulwark against gayism
\nor lesbianism.<\/p>\n

On the state of education in the country, the former President
\nsaid it had improved but called on government to continue to work hard to improve
\nthe economy to sustain quality education. <\/p>\n

He recognized the vast improvement in the standard of education in
\nthe country but was however skeptical of the continuous sustainability of the
\ncurrent standard if government failed to improve the economy to create more
\nwealth to support the educational sector.<\/p>\n

For his part, Abraham Kwasi Afarwuah, Chief Executive Officer
\n(CEO) of the school, said the visit was to formally seek his blessings for the
\nschool and thanked him for his influence in the establishment of the school.<\/p>\n

The CEO thanked Mr. Kufuor for accepting them to his residence and
\nhis good counsel. <\/p>\n

The management and staff of the school presented the former President
\nwith a citation and a plaque for his tremendous contribution to the development
\nof Ghana, especially education.<\/p>\n
