The National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) and the Copenhagen<br \/>\nConsensus Centre (CCC), a United States non-profit think tank, have underscored<br \/>\nthe need to have a set of concrete logical basis towards Ghana\u2019s policy<br \/>\nchoices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;;mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;;&#10;color:#333333;border:none windowtext 1.0pt;mso-border-alt:none windowtext 0cm;&#10;padding:0cm;mso-ansi-language:#2000;mso-fareast-language:#2000\">At a<br \/>\nStakeholders Roundtable on the Ghana Priorities Project, Dr Kodjo<br \/>\nMensah-Abrampah, the Director-General (DG) of the NDPC, said every single<br \/>\npolicy that would be proposed would have to go through a cost-benefit analysis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;;mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;;&#10;color:#333333;border:none windowtext 1.0pt;mso-border-alt:none windowtext 0cm;&#10;padding:0cm;mso-ansi-language:#2000;mso-fareast-language:#2000\">\u201cSo if we get<br \/>\nnew resources (income) coming into the national budget, we will know where<br \/>\nexactly to put these resources so we can make most gains,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;;mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;;&#10;color:#333333;border:none windowtext 1.0pt;mso-border-alt:none windowtext 0cm;&#10;padding:0cm;mso-ansi-language:#2000;mso-fareast-language:#2000\">The Ghana<br \/>\nPriorities Project offered researchers the opportunity to present their<br \/>\npreliminary work and receive inputs from senior officials and technical experts<br \/>\nof the various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) and other<br \/>\nstakeholders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;;mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;;&#10;color:#333333;border:none windowtext 1.0pt;mso-border-alt:none windowtext 0cm;&#10;padding:0cm;mso-ansi-language:#2000;mso-fareast-language:#2000\">It is being<br \/>\nchampioned by the CCC in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning, NDPC and<br \/>\nthe Ghana Statistical Service.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;;mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;;&#10;color:#333333;border:none windowtext 1.0pt;mso-border-alt:none windowtext 0cm;&#10;padding:0cm;mso-ansi-language:#2000;mso-fareast-language:#2000\">The Project<br \/>\nuses cost-benefit analysis to provide data-driven decision support for Ghana to<br \/>\nchoose the most effective and impactful policy interventions across the<br \/>\ncountry\u2019s development agenda, covering areas such as health, education,<br \/>\nagriculture, environment and infrastructure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;;mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;;&#10;color:#333333;border:none windowtext 1.0pt;mso-border-alt:none windowtext 0cm;&#10;padding:0cm;mso-ansi-language:#2000;mso-fareast-language:#2000\">It is in this<br \/>\nvein that the CCC commissioned researchers (Ghanaians and international<br \/>\nresearchers) to present papers on the costs and benefits of 80\u201390 policy<br \/>\ninterventions that cut across the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:11.0pt;&#10;font-family:&quot;Tahoma&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;;mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;;&#10;color:#333333;border:none windowtext 1.0pt;mso-border-alt:none windowtext 0cm;&#10;padding:0cm;mso-ansi-language:#2000;mso-fareast-language:#2000\">Dr<br \/>\nMensah-Abrampah said practically that would enable stakeholders to know how<br \/>\nsuch policies were going to affect people\u2019s lives;
