President Nana Akufo-Addo<\/strong><\/p>\n

PRESIDENT NANA Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has
\nstated categorically that there is not going to be any teachings on how to
\nbecome a homosexual or lesbian in basic schools as being propagated.<\/p>\n

He said he is a staunch Christian and a well
\ncultured person and would never allow any alien culture that seeks to promote
\ngay or lesbianism and other social vices into the country under his tenure.<\/p>\n

With Emphasis<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI want to say with all the emphasis at my
\ncommand that whilst I am President there would not be thought or offered for
\ndiscussions in our schools, in our primary schools anything negative that comes
\nunder the term Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE),\u201d the President said
\nyesterday.<\/p>\n

Breaking Silence<\/strong><\/p>\n

The President broke his silence on the heated
\nCSE debate after attending a church service at St. Cyprian Anglican in Kumasi
\nyesterday when he met some religious heads.<\/p>\n

He said \u201cnone of our children who are now in
\nkindergarten and primary school are being thought any of the things that are
\nbeing alleged as we speak now and you are in a position to verify that for
\nyourselves whether indeed the new curriculum that is being applied incorporates
\nthis negative deleterious matter that has incensed all of us.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said none of the about 152,000 teachers who
\nwere on the guidelines were asked to go to the classrooms and teach the
\nchildren \u201cthis offensive sexuality education. None of them!\u201d<\/p>\n

Clear Statement<\/strong><\/p>\n

He said \u201cit is as clear a statement and is
\nclear a categorical statement as I can make and I am making it to reassure all
\nthose that are genuinely concerned. Some are genuinely concerned otherwise are
\nstoking up this matter for their own base political purposes but I am talking
\nabout those who are genuinely concerned that these subjects would not be
\nintroduced in our schools curriculum.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are contemporary matters that have been
\ndescribed as contemporary issues that are the subject of further work that is
\nbeing done by the Curriculum Board as well as the GES,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n

He mentioned Gender Equity, Inclusive Education,
\nSanitation, Climate Change, Road Safety, CSE, Green Education, Green Economy,
\nEnergy Efficiency and Energy Conservation as \u2018cluster of ideas\u2019 that are being
\nworked on globally to be able to come into the curriculum.<\/p>\n

Power of Cabinet<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cBut for anything to be educational policy in
\nour country, this is not the creation of my time. It has been so ever since
\nthere was a state of Ghana.\u201d <\/p>\n

The President said that any policy for the
\ncountry has to be approved by cabinet first before its implementation, saying \u201cI
\nwant to assure you that as long as I am in the chair in cabinet nothing
\ndeleterious is going to pass through.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEducational policy is made by government so
\nall of these matters that are being defined and delineated would have to come
\nback to government and the main instrument of government is the cabinet and it
\nwould have to come to cabinet for approval before it becomes policy that is
\nimplemented in our educational system.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sex Photos<\/strong><\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo also talked about the fact
\nthat the Teachers Guide on Sex Education that has been developed does not
\ncontain \u201canything near the graphic pictures and illustrations being displayed
\non social media as to what is being introduced in basic schools.\u201d<\/p>\n

He urged Ghanaians to spend their collective
\nenergies on the myriads of problems in Ghana and not allow mischief to destroy
\nthe country.<\/p>\n

Admitting Faults<\/strong><\/p>\n

He said he has no difficulty in acknowledging
\nany mistakes his government would make but said however that \u201con this subject
\nof CSE, I am able to say the government is not about to introduce any such
\nnegative information for our children.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said \u201cI didn\u2019t bring the Free SHS to provide
\na vehicle for polluting our children and exposing them to negative moral
\nspiritual and social attitudes. That was not the purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n

During his brief speech at the St. Cyprian
\nAnglican Church, the President said he is well vexed in the culture and
\ntraditions of the country and so far as he remained President and the commander
\nof the Ghana Armed Forces, he would never allow any unacceptable culture to
\nsneak into the country, especially in schools.<\/p>\n

Calls for
\nPrayers <\/strong><\/p>\n

The President, who was beaming with smiles,
\ncalled on Christians and all other faiths to continually pray fervently for him
\nso that he would be able to implement all his policies and programmes to take
\nthe country to the next desired level.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease pray to God to grant me sound health,
\nwisdom, courage, strength and a good heart so that I will be able to work assiduously
\nto turn the fortunes of this country around so as to expedite the
\ntransformational process of this country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Preaching the sermon, the Archbishop of the
\nAnglican Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Prof. Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, warned Ghanaians
\nagainst corruption and other practices that could potentially impede the
\ncountry\u2019s growth, saying \u201cwe have to support the President to deliver\u201d. \u201cWe
\nhave only one Ghana and we need to build it together,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The Dean of the Cathedral, Very Rev. Oscar Amoah,
\npresented a special book to the President at the tail end of the service.
\nFervent prayers were also said for the President and the country.<\/p>\n

The occasion was the \u2018St. Cyprian\u2019s Week\u2019 and it attracted a sizeable number of people to the church including \u00a0the Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei-Mensah, NPP Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka \u2018Wontumi\u2019, KMA Boss Osei Assibey-Antwi, ex-MP Henry Kwabena Kokofu and Subin MP Eugene Boakye Antwi.<\/p>\n
