{"id":716968,"date":"2019-10-05T11:41:35","date_gmt":"2019-10-05T11:41:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2019\/10\/05\/napo-rebutts-mahamas-sex-education-claim\/"},"modified":"2019-10-05T11:41:35","modified_gmt":"2019-10-05T11:41:35","slug":"napo-rebutts-mahamas-sex-education-claim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/10\/05\/napo-rebutts-mahamas-sex-education-claim\/","title":{"rendered":"Napo Rebutts Mahama\u2019s Sex Education Claim"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Education Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has descended on ex-President<br \/>\nJohn Mahama for making \u2018convenient\u2019 statements about the controversial<br \/>\nComprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), which the government says is not part<br \/>\nof the curriculum for basic schools.<\/p>\n<p>According to<br \/>\nhim, Mr. Mahama\u2019s erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) government<br \/>\nintroduced Sexuality Education in 2015 but is now turning around to score cheap<br \/>\npolitical points as regards the matter.<\/p>\n<p>The minister<br \/>\nsaid the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration had not introduced the CSE as<br \/>\nis being claimed, and said the government would never do anything to jeopardize<br \/>\nthe country\u2019s cultural norms and practices.<\/p>\n<p>He said he was<br \/>\nstunned to see Mr. Mahama and the NDC, who introduced the subject in their<br \/>\ntime, making a U-turn to blame the NPP government for the policy.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the<br \/>\nNational UTAG Congress at KNUST in Kumasi yesterday, the minister said he was<br \/>\nnot happy with Mr. Mahama\u2019s \u2018hypocritical\u2019 stance on the matter.<\/p>\n<p>Napo stated that<br \/>\nhe had been chastised unjustifiably by the public because of Mr. Mahama\u2019s \u201cpropaganda<br \/>\nand dirty politics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to<br \/>\nhim, he would definitely come out boldly with evidence and other facts to<br \/>\nexpose the hypocritical nature of Mr. Mahama and the NDC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will speak<br \/>\ndirectly to John Mahama on Monday. He is a hypocrite and that is not the way to<br \/>\nexercise leadership,\u201d Napo said.<\/p>\n<p>Setting the<br \/>\nrecord straight, Dr. Prempeh stated<br \/>\nthat Cabinet had not approved the CSE, so he didn\u2019t know why he was<br \/>\nbeing lambasted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe guidelines<br \/>\nfor the Comprehensive Sexuality Education doesn\u2019t have Cabinet\u2019s approval,<br \/>\ntherefore, there is no subject on the CSE as I speak now. The pictures that you<br \/>\nsee on the Internet were published by John Mahama\u2019s NDC in 2015; therefore,<br \/>\nnobody can accuse me of that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy should<br \/>\nsomeone who has published a book on Sexual Education in 2015 turn to blame me?\u201d<br \/>\nthe minister queried.<\/p>\n<p>According to<br \/>\nhim, as the Minister of Education, he would never allow anybody to import<br \/>\nforeign culture on schoolchildren in order to jeopardize<br \/>\ntheir future.<\/p>\n<p>He said Article<br \/>\n39 stipulates that the culture of the country should be given a priority<br \/>\nwhenever any decision is taken on education, and he is aware of that.<\/p>\n<p>Napo, who seemed very disturbed over Mr. Mahama and the NDC\u2019s action, said, \u201cIf we don\u2019t stop this dirty politics, governance will be difficult.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>FROM I.F.
