Sammi Awuku and Justin Kodua Frimpong <\/strong><\/p>\n

The National Youth Organizer of
\nthe New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye has indicated that the giant
\nstrides made in accelerating the provision of jobs to the teaming youth of
\nGhana by the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), under the
\nleadership of Sammi Awuku and Justin Kodua Frimpong, Board Chairman and Chief
\nExecutive Officer (CEO) of YEA respectively have enhanced the image of the
\nagency <\/p>\n

According to Nana B, as the NPP
\nYouth Organiser is affectionately called, the agency had lost its relevance
\nprior to the coming into office of the NPP government due to its poor handling
\nby the erstwhile John Mahama administration. He indicated that the NDC
\ngovernment used the agency as a cash cow to siphon millions of US Dollars,
\nthereby relegating its job provision mandate to the abyss.<\/p>\n

However, the agency according to
\nhim has seen significant changes in its management strategies in the execution
\nof its core mandate in the past two and half years that the new Board and management
\ntook over the running of the agency.<\/p>\n

He indicated that the agency, since
\n2017, has employed about 107,000 youth under varied modules including Youth in
\nAgriculture, Afforestation, and Community Protection among others.<\/p>\n

The agency is set to launch four
\ntransformational initiatives with far-reaching solutions to youth unemployment
\nin the country. The initiatives which are expected to be launched on 2nd
\nOctober, 2019 by the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia include the YEA
\nJob Center, Artisan Directory, Flagship Projects and Work Abroad.<\/p>\n

The primary goal of the Job
\nCentre Ghana is to strategically position the agency to serve as a one-stop
\nshop to provide skills and connect job seekers to employers, aimed at
\naddressing the unemployment concerns of the youth in the country.<\/p>\n

Whiles the agriculture-based
\nflagship programme will be a development programme which would be initiated in
\nvarious regions and districts focusing on the natural resource in the area, the
\nWork Abroad programme will also enable the export of young professionals such
\nas nurses and teachers, into other countries.<\/p>\n

According to Nana B, these transformational initiatives are laudable as they focus on practical and high-impact solutions to unemployment.<\/p>\n
