Prof. Opoku Amankwah \u2013 GES Boss<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed claims the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) programme for primary one pupils under the new Standard Based Curriculum has something to do with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT), masturbation issues.<\/p>\n

According to GES in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Cassandra Twum Ampofo, \u201cin all the training programmes on the curriculum from simulation through master training to the training of the 152,000 KG-P6 teachers, there was no mention of any of the issues referred to above.\u201d<\/p>\n

It clarified that CSE does not seek to throw out the advocacy for sexual abstinence, but rather reinforce it.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe goal of CSE is to equip school children with age and cultural appropriate information to explore and nurture positive values and attitudes towards their sexual and reproductive health and to develop self-esteem,\u201d it noted.<\/p>\n

LGBT Agenda<\/p>\n

Renowned law lecturer and fierce critic of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) movement, Moses Foh-Amoaning, had raised a conspiracy theory into the debate, saying government was \u2018pushing\u2019 an LGBT agenda with the CSE.<\/p>\n

Mr. Foh-Amoaning is the Executive Secretary and the Spokesperson for the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values.<\/p>\n

According to him, some texts and modules in the curriculum that will guide the CSE programme in Ghana resonate with LGBT activism.<\/p>\n

Ghanaians are resisting the implementation of the CSE programme.<\/p>\n
