{"id":711486,"date":"2019-09-27T11:44:59","date_gmt":"2019-09-27T11:44:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2019\/09\/27\/govt-frowns-on-quack-security-experts\/"},"modified":"2019-09-27T11:44:59","modified_gmt":"2019-09-27T11:44:59","slug":"govt-frowns-on-quack-security-experts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/09\/27\/govt-frowns-on-quack-security-experts\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov\u2019t Frowns On Quack Security Experts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Pious Enam Hadidze <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Government<br \/>\nhas cautioned self-styled security experts against ridiculing the coup d\u2019\u00e9tat<br \/>\nclaim it made recently.<\/p>\n<p>According<br \/>\nto the government, \u201cIt is unfortunate that sections of the Ghanaian public would<br \/>\nattempt to ridicule this information.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Deputy<br \/>\nInformation Minister Pious Enam Hadidze served the warning at a press briefing<br \/>\nin Accra yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>He<br \/>\nsaid the coup d\u2019\u00e9tat claim was a result of sustained surveillance including<br \/>\nvideo, insisting that the suspects had been plotting to target the Presidency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd<br \/>\nso we want to discourage strong attempts by sections of our population,<br \/>\nespecially on social media and even sometimes in traditional media by<br \/>\nself-acclaimed security and\u00a0 intelligence<br \/>\nexperts, to attempt to ridicule what information the government has put out,\u201d<br \/>\nhe stressed.<\/p>\n<p>He<br \/>\nsaid it is true that chemicals were purchased for the manufacture of the<br \/>\nweapons and that it is true that there was test firing of the weapons.<\/p>\n<p>The<br \/>\nDeputy Minister referred to cases from the US to argue that it did not have to take<br \/>\nmany people to assassinate a President.<\/p>\n<p>Government<br \/>\non Monday announced that security agencies had foiled a plan aimed at creating<br \/>\ninstability in the country, and a takeover of political power through radicalization<br \/>\nof the youth and the use of locally manufactured guns last Friday.<\/p>\n<p>According<br \/>\nto a statement signed by Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the intended<br \/>\ncoup was prevented when joint security personnel conducted a successful dawn<br \/>\noperation which led to the arrest of three persons and the retrieval of several<br \/>\narms, explosive devices and ammunition in Accra and at Bawaleshie, near Dodowa.<\/p>\n<p>The<br \/>\nsuspects are the proprietor of a medical facility called Citadel Hospital at<br \/>\nAlajo-Accra, Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm, and two others, Ezor Kafui, a local<br \/>\nweapon manufacturer (blacksmith), as well as Bright Allan Debrah Ofosu, aka BB<br \/>\nor ADC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Retrieved Exhibits <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Five<br \/>\nlocally manufactured pistols with fitted magazines, one foreign pistol with two<br \/>\nextra magazines, three locally manufactured pistol barrels and three smoke<br \/>\ngrenades were retrieved.<\/p>\n<p>Others<br \/>\nwere 22 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), nine NATO type AK 47 magazines and<br \/>\na long knife.<\/p>\n<p>The<br \/>\nrest were seven mobile phones, two IPADS, two decoders, one modem, three<br \/>\ntablets and one Ghanaian passport. Besides, two pen drives, one voice recorder,<br \/>\none USB connector including machines, materials for the manufacture of weapons,<br \/>\nand IEDs were retrieved.<\/p>\n<p>At<br \/>\nthe Bawaleshie location, 63mm rounds were also retrieved. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Local Weapons<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As<br \/>\npart of the project, Dr. Mac-Palm engaged an Alavanyo blacksmith to produce<br \/>\nweapons locally alongside IEDs for an operation.<\/p>\n<p>The<br \/>\nblacksmith set up a workshop in a container, which previously served as an<br \/>\nX-Ray laboratory within the Citadel Hospital. He started producing the weapons<br \/>\nand IEDs within the location, the statement pointed out. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Korle Bu Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dr.<br \/>\nMac-Palm and Mr. Ezor procured from the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital some<br \/>\nessential items needed as an additive to gun powder, stone chippings, surgical<br \/>\nneedles and powdered pepper for their operations.<\/p>\n<p>A worker at the Base Workshop of the Ghana Army at Burma Camp was engaged for the supply of 10 AK 47 rifles for which an advance payment of GH\u00a27,000 was made.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BY Melvin Tarlue<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pious Enam Hadidze Government has cautioned self-styled security experts against ridiculing the coup d\u2019\u00e9tat claim it made recently.
