Bawku (U\/E), Sept. 17, GNA – The Bawku
\nMunicipal Assembly has initiated various policies aimed at promoting quality
\nsustainable livelihoods as part of measures to help achieve the Sustainable
\nDevelopment Goals (SDGs). <\/span><\/p>\n

Some of the measures include enforcing
\nby-laws of the Assembly and promoting pragmatic education that would provide
\nthe basic needs of the people.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Assembly would also focus on improving
\nagriculture production of staples and horticultural crops. <\/span><\/p>\n

Hajia Hawa Nincheamah, the Bawku Municipal Chief
\nExecutive (MCE), said this on Monday when she presented this year\u2019s budget to
\nthe Assembly.<\/span><\/p>\n

She said a total of GH\u00a2 8,790,309.53 has
\nbeen allocated for the implementation of the measures taken to improve on the
\nlivelihood conditions of the people in the area. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Assembly would promote poultry and
\nlivestock development for food security and income generation by 2020, to end
\nhunger and ensure access by all to safe nutrition and sufficient food for all
\nyear round\u201d, she said. <\/span><\/p>\n

Hajia Nincheamah said for goal three, the
\nAssembly would bridge the equity gaps in geographical access to health services
\nto ensure healthy lives and promote the wellbeing for all. <\/span><\/p>\n

She said in order to achieve goal four, the
\nAssembly would increase inclusive and equitable access to participation in
\nformal education at all levels and improve quality teaching and learning that
\nwould promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hajia Nincheamah said the measures would
\nensure that all girls and boys had access to early childhood development care
\nand pre-primary education and complete free equitable quality primary and
\nsecondary education. <\/span><\/p>\n

The MCE said water and sanitation is a
\npriority to the area and the Assembly is working to accelerate the provision of
\nadequate, safe and affordable water, and improve the provision of environmental
\nsanitation facilities to ensure availability and sustainable of the management
\nof water and sanitation facilities in the Bawku municipality and its environs.<\/span><\/p>\n
