{"id":704914,"date":"2019-09-13T13:24:02","date_gmt":"2019-09-13T13:24:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2019\/09\/13\/34-year-old-becomes-wenchi-omanhene\/"},"modified":"2019-09-13T13:24:02","modified_gmt":"2019-09-13T13:24:02","slug":"34-year-old-becomes-wenchi-omanhene","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/09\/13\/34-year-old-becomes-wenchi-omanhene\/","title":{"rendered":"34 Year Old Becomes Wenchi Omanhene"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Nana Kwaku Abrefa Damoah<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The people of Wenchi in the Bono Region could<br \/>\nnot hide their joy as they took to the streets to jubilate after the<br \/>\nAcheamenhene, Nana Damoa Koasane Adisi Kofabae IV, announced Nana Kwaku Abrefa Damoah<br \/>\nfrom the Ahenfie Yefri as the new Paramount Chief of Wenchi Traditional Area. <\/p>\n<p>The young chief succeeds Nana Osagyefo<br \/>\nProfessor Anye Amoanpong Ntabrako II, who passed away some years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Nana Abrefa Damoah was nominated by the Queenmother,<br \/>\nNana Atoa Sramangyedua, who happens to be the grandmother of the new Omanhene.<\/p>\n<p>After presenting the new Omanhene to the<br \/>\nkingmakers, chiefs and elders of the stool, all of them accepted his nomination<br \/>\nand thanked the queenmother for giving them \u201cthe right choice\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Accepting his nomination, Nana Abrefa Damoah<br \/>\npromised to work hard to settle all outstanding chieftaincy issues in his domain.<br \/>\nHe said as a young man, he would make sure he works in unity with the youth of<br \/>\nWenchi to bring development to the area which lacks development due to<br \/>\nprotracted chieftaincy disputes. He also appealed to the elders and kingmakers<br \/>\nto give him the necessary support so that his reign would be successful.<\/p>\n<p>In his view, Wenchi, the birth place of the<br \/>\nlate Ghanaian Prime Minister, Professor Kofi Abrefa Busia, deserves more as far<br \/>\nas development is concerned. He noted that chieftaincy problems had stalled the<br \/>\ndevelopment of the area.<\/p>\n<p>On her part, Nana Atoa Sramangyedua admonished<br \/>\nthe new Omanhene to respect his elders and work together with them to engender<br \/>\npeace in the area.<\/p>\n<p>She also took the opportunity to appeal to the<br \/>\nNew Patriotic Party (NPP) administration to quickly revamp the Wenchi Tomato Factory<br \/>\nwhich has gone defunct for so many years.<\/p>\n<p>She said with the introduction of 1D1F, it<br \/>\nwould not be out of order for the government to find a strategic investor to<br \/>\ntake over the factory so that the teeming youth of Wenchi and its environs<br \/>\nwould have something profitable to do.<\/p>\n<p>She also mentioned other laudable initiatives<br \/>\nlike the Planting for Food and Jobs which she said would help more people to<br \/>\nfind jobs.<\/p>\n<p>The new Omanhene was later carried on the shoulder and paraded on the streets of Wenchi.<\/p>\n<p><strong>By Eric Bawah, Wenchi<\/strong> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nana Kwaku Abrefa Damoah The people of Wenchi in the Bono Region could not hide their joy as they took to the streets to jubilate after the Acheamenhene, Nana Damoa Koasane Adisi Kofabae IV, announced Nana Kwaku Abrefa Damoah from the Ahenfie Yefri as the new Paramount Chief of Wenchi Traditional Area.
