BARCLAYS
\nBANK Ghana, part of the Absa Group, will soon roll out a bank proposition aimed
\nat bringing more women-SME owners into Ghana\u2019s digital financial space.<\/p>\n

According
\nto the Bank, women are a major part of the SME market and they play a critical
\nrole in the growth of small businesses both in the formal and informal sector
\nof the economy, hence the need to involve them in the nation\u2019s drive to
\nfinancial inclusion.<\/p>\n

Speaking
\nat the Bank\u2019s 8th<\/sup> SME Clinic held at its Osu Branch in Accra last
\nweek, Mrs. Audrey Abakah, head of SME Banking at Barclays Ghana said, \u201cWe are
\nworking out a women\u2019s proposition in line with the financial inclusion agenda
\nof the country. We have a lot more women who are not in the financial system
\nand this is of great concern to us, given their contribution to the SME sector\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\u201cAttracting
\nmore women into our system will give us the opportunity to support them to
\nrealise their possibilities and grow their business,\u201d Ms Abakah noted.<\/p>\n

The
\nSME clinic was attended by over 60 clients who were taken through a series of
\nsessions including Credit Sanctioning, Fraud Alerts, Forex Trading and Company
\nsuccession plan among others.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Participating
\nclients were also updated on services such as Digital Banking, Mobile Money
\nCollection Solution and Barclays Business Club which are designed to help them
\nrun efficient businesses and grow their portfolio.<\/p>\n

Mrs.
\nGrace Elizabeth Anim-Yeboah, the Business Banking Director at Barclays Ghana
\nused the occasion to update participants on the bank\u2019s transition to Absa, and
\nthe opportunities the change presented to customers and all other stakeholders
\nof the bank. <\/p>\n

The
\nBarclays SME Clinic is designed to help SME clients to benefit from the Bank\u2019s
\ntailor-made capacity building programme aimed at educating and supporting SMEs
\nin running a sound and sustainable business. It also creates a platform for the
\nclients to interact directly with officials of the bank.<\/p>\n

So far, nearly 600 SMEs have benefitted from this year\u2019s clinics.<\/p>\n
