Napo distributing free learning aids to the fresh kindergarten pupils<\/strong><\/p>\n

THE MINISTER of
\nEducation, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has urged pupils in the public schools to
\ntake their education seriously in order to chalk up success in life.<\/p>\n

According to him, being enrolled in a public
\nschool does not mean one would not be able to climb high the academic ladder;
\ntherefore, he stressed the need for pupils to always attach seriousness to
\ntheir studies.<\/p>\n

Using President Akufo-Addo and former President
\nJohn Agyekum Kufuor as a case study, he said these important personalities attended
\npublic schools in their youthful ages, yet they managed to become successful in
\nlife.<\/p>\n

My First Day At School<\/strong><\/p>\n

The minister was speaking when he embarked on a
\n\u2018My First Day At School\u2019 tour on Tuesday, which saw him visiting about eight public
\nschools in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.<\/p>\n

According to him, government would continue to do
\nits best to resource the public schools to give the best of education and
\ntraining to pupils, especially at the basic level. He entreated pupils in the
\npublic schools not be swollen-headed; rather they should attach seriousness to
\ntheir education.<\/p>\n

Mr.
\nPrempeh indicated that education is the best tool to narrow the gap
\nbetween the rich and the poor in society, and advised the youth to channel their
\ntime and energy to study hard.<\/p>\n

He visited the KO Methodist, St. Joseph
\nExperimental (KonaduYiadom), Afia Kobi, Odumase Extension, New\/Tafo Dichemso MA
\nBasic School and others.<\/p>\n

Accompanying the minister on the tour were Anne-Claire
\nDufay, UNICEF representative in Ghana; the Ashanti Regional Education Director,
\nMary Owusu Achiaw; and other top dignitaries.<\/p>\n

Free Learning Aids<\/strong><\/p>\n

Napo also used the visit to present free
\nlearning aids, including pencils, crayons, sharpeners, books and other
\nmaterials to pupils who were being enrolled in kindergarten for the first time.
\nHe explained that the free gifts were intended to motivate the fresh
\nkindergarten pupils to aspire higher.<\/p>\n

UNICEF Boss<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Anne-Claire Dufay, on her part, lauded Ghana
\nfor its dedication and commitment in the affairs of children, saying that she
\nwas thrilled about government\u2019s interest in education.<\/p>\n

Besides, Madam Owusu Achiaw entreated the teachers
\nto help make the pupils enjoy their stay in school. In that regard, she
\nadmonished teachers to exhibit fatherly and motherly love to the pupils,
\nespecially the fresh kindergarten pupils, so that they would freely attend
\nschool all the time.<\/p>\n
