{"id":704095,"date":"2019-09-12T10:27:13","date_gmt":"2019-09-12T10:27:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2019\/09\/12\/npp-howls-at-ndc-over-dirty-strategy\/"},"modified":"2019-09-12T10:27:13","modified_gmt":"2019-09-12T10:27:13","slug":"npp-howls-at-ndc-over-dirty-strategy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/09\/12\/npp-howls-at-ndc-over-dirty-strategy\/","title":{"rendered":"NPP Howls At NDC Over Dirty Strategy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>John Boadu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The<br \/>\nruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the opposition National Democratic<br \/>\nCongress (NDC) is reinventing their \u2018dirty\u2019 strategy of throwing<br \/>\nunsubstantiated corruption allegations against NPP appointees just to win back<br \/>\npower like they did in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>According<br \/>\nto the NPP\u2019s General Secretary, John Boadu, the NDC in 2008 shouted<br \/>\n\u2018corruption\u2019 against the NPP but the allegations were never proven and said<br \/>\nthat this time around, the ruling party would not sit down for that to happen<br \/>\nagain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe<br \/>\nNDC\u2019s campaign of falsehood and mischievous political intent really fails the<br \/>\ntest of serious and purposeful governance,\u201d the General Secretary said at a<br \/>\nmedia briefing yesterday and pledged that \u201cthe NPP will this time around expose<br \/>\nthe NDC and not allow them to get away with it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGod\u2019s<br \/>\nlove for Ghana allowed us this moment to be able to do a side-by-side<br \/>\ncomparison of a serious speech that has already changed Ghana, and a<br \/>\ncontent-free, values-free ad hominem flight of bombast that threatens to undo<br \/>\nall the gains we have made in the effort to become a law-abiding country,\u201d he<br \/>\nsaid in reaction to the NDC\u2019s response to President Akufo-Addo\u2019s speech on corruption<br \/>\non Monday.<\/p>\n<p>He<br \/>\nsaid \u201cthe NDC is a party that is too weighed down by its own poor history. But<br \/>\nwe can\u2019t afford to let this poor history become Ghana\u2019s destiny.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>According<br \/>\nto Mr. Boadu, \u201cWhilst the President acknowledges the presence of corruption,<br \/>\npast and present, and demonstrates concrete steps towards sustainable lasting<br \/>\nsolutions, the NDC prefers smoke and mirrors, shouting as loudly as possible in<br \/>\nthe unrealistic hope of gaining doubtful political capital.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He<br \/>\nsaid the time had come for Ghanaians to critically weigh the governance styles<br \/>\nof the two parties, and to lead the public crusade for good governance with<br \/>\nopen government, as championed by the President.<\/p>\n<p>Mr.<br \/>\nBoadu stated that the President\u2019s commitment is to the Rule of Law as the only<br \/>\nlegitimate and viable means of conquering systemic corruption in this country,<br \/>\nadding that \u201cno amount of short-term mudslinging and exaggerated claims of<br \/>\ncorruption being levelled at every incidence of mishap in governance can sway<br \/>\nhis resolve to be impartial, fair and focused on institutional means of<br \/>\nfighting corruption.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The<br \/>\nNPP also questioned the moral right of the NDC in talking about corruption when<br \/>\nthe facts point that this government has done better than the NDC\u2019s government<br \/>\nunder the John Mahama administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe<br \/>\nNDC sends mixed signals. Any action taken drives them to demand even more extreme<br \/>\naction. Per their approach, the President should be judge and executioner on no<br \/>\nevidence other than their politically motivated screams of corruption,\u201d he<br \/>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndeed,<br \/>\nthe NDC\u2019s superior craftsmanship of state-sponsored corruption was well described<br \/>\nin a pithy way by the phrase \u2018create, loot and share\u2019. We saw in this time<br \/>\ninfamous judgement debt schemes where monies were deliberately budgeted in<br \/>\norder to create judgement debts, loot the budgeted monies and share the looted<br \/>\nmonies,\u201d Mr. Boadu added.<\/p>\n<p>The<br \/>\nNPP also questioned the rationale behind the NDC using a press conference held<br \/>\nby a man (Asiedu Nketia), who as chairman of a state corporation, Bui Dam,<br \/>\nawarded to himself contracts and now \u201cfancies himself as corrupt enough to be<br \/>\nconsidered as running mate to a candidate, who, one week<br \/>\nbefore leaving office, signed off 75% of Ghana\u2019s bauxite to his younger<br \/>\nbrother\u201d to refer to the president as running a \u2018family and friends\u2019<br \/>\ngovernment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe NDC has no record to compare to the above. They accuse the President with a vague notion of state capture, hinting at some of the President\u2019s appointees being from his family.
