{"id":703381,"date":"2019-09-11T13:10:02","date_gmt":"2019-09-11T13:10:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2019\/09\/11\/ursula-introduces-livelihood-programme\/"},"modified":"2019-09-11T13:10:02","modified_gmt":"2019-09-11T13:10:02","slug":"ursula-introduces-livelihood-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/09\/11\/ursula-introduces-livelihood-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"Ursula Introduces Livelihood Programme &#8211;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Ursula Owusu-Ekuful addressing women at the programme<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>About 250 women in the<br \/>\nAblekuma West Constituency are to benefit from the livelihood empowerment<br \/>\nprogramme initiated by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful.<\/p>\n<p>The beneficiaries that<br \/>\ncomprise of polling station executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are to receive<br \/>\na maximum financial support of GH\u20b51,000 interest-free loans, which is being<br \/>\nfacilitated by Innovative Microfinance Company Limited.<\/p>\n<p>The loans- payable within<br \/>\na six month period, are expected to provide beneficiaries with the needed finance<br \/>\nto grow their livelihoods while building their capacity to financial<br \/>\nindependence.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the launch of<br \/>\nthe programme over the weekend, Mrs Owusu-Ekuful disclosed that the delay in<br \/>\naccessing the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) credit facility by<br \/>\nthe constituents, prompted her to initiating such a programme as a financial stopgap<br \/>\nfor members.<\/p>\n<p>She therefore cautioned<br \/>\nbeneficiaries of the programme against applying for MASLOC loans so as to allow<br \/>\nothers, the access and benefit from the MASLOC credit facility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is not everyone who<br \/>\nmight want the GH\u20b51000 loan. Perhaps some<br \/>\nwould prefer a small freezer or a pop corn machine for their business. There<br \/>\nare packages available for such persons, where you are provided with items and<br \/>\nyou make payments out of revenue realised from the use of the items\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>A financial consultant,<br \/>\nGifty Aba Amoah advised beneficiaries to adopt good book keeping practices, in<br \/>\norder to keep track of all transactions and also shun the risky practice of<br \/>\nlending loan monies to others with the intention of earning interest.<\/p>\n<p>She also urged<br \/>\nbeneficiaries to among other things add value to their services, adapt to<br \/>\nchanges in the marketing environment, look presentable and also avoid<br \/>\nunnecessary spending, especially when no profit had been realised from their<br \/>\nbusiness ventures.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>The Deputy Chief<br \/>\nExecutive Officer of MASLOC, Abibata Shanni Mahama Zakariah advised beneficiaries<br \/>\nto honour their obligations of repaying their loans as a way of reciprocating<br \/>\nthe love shown them by their MP.<\/p>\n<p>Also present at the programme were the National Women\u2019s Organiser, Kate Gyamfua and the Director General of the Ghana AIDS Commission, Dr. Mokowa Blay Adu-Gyamfi.<\/p>\n<p><strong>By Issah Mohammed<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ursula Owusu-Ekuful addressing women at the programme About 250 women in the Ablekuma West Constituency are to benefit from the livelihood empowerment programme initiated by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful.
