Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Operations at Produce Buying Company (PBC), Alfred Ofori Annye has said they are targeting to buy 275, 00 tonnes of cocoa this year in spite of challenges facing the company.<\/p>\n
Workers of PBC last month demonstrated against their management accusing them of incompetence saying they have not been paid for their salary cocoa for a long time which threatens the survival of the company.<\/p>\nSome farmers at the workshop<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Speaking to Adom News at the sidelines of Agro Inputs application training programme for cocoa farmers at Asante Akyem Central, Alfred Ofori Annye said calm has been restored and measures have been put in place to address concerns of workers and also meet their target.<\/p>\n
He noted that, they have gotten support from the government to bounce back and he is confident they will reach their target.<\/p>\n
Mr. Ofori Annye urged the cocoa farmers to support government to enable it meet its target.<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n
Samuel Amissah who is the Project Development Manager of PBC, said the training programme is to teach cocoa farmers how to use agro inputs to increase their yields to help COCOBOD meet it one million metric tones of cocoa production in Ghana.<\/p>\n
He added that, the training will help the farmers know the quantity of agro chemicals to apply on an acre of cocoa farm.<\/p>\n
