The Eastern Regional Government Hospital in
\nKoforidua and Sanofi (a global biopharmaceutical company
\nfocused on human healths) have teamed up to provide specialised care
\nfor diabetes and hypertension patients.<\/p>\n

They signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to help address the
\ngrowing incidence of diabetes and hypertension.<\/p>\n

Opening the clinic last week, Sanofi\u2019s General Manager & Country
\nChair, Folake Odediran, explained that diabetes and hypertension have become a
\nmajor concern, adding that about 41 million people die through diabetes and
\nhypertension, representing 71 per cent globally.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to her, the World Health Organisation
\n(WHO) estimates that non-communicable diseases account for 34 per cent death
\nand 31 per cent of disease burden.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She said Sanofi is determined to help identify
\nand solve people\u2019s health needs health. <\/p>\n

The Medical Director of the Eastern Regional
\nHospital, Dr. Anim Boamah, expressed gratitude to Sanofi for coming in to
\nassist the hospital handle diabetes and hypertension cases.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He indicated that the clinic project would help
\nin-patient health education, as well as to empower patients to take good care
\nof themselves.<\/p>\n

Dr. Boamah added that staff would be engaged in
\na capacity building whilst nurses would also be trained to improve their skills
\nin terms of diagnoses, patients\u2019 education and the of management of
\nhypertension.\u00a0<\/p>\n
