Santol\u00a0Energy, one of the country\u2019s\u00a0rapidly growing\u00a0oil marketing
\ncompanies is set to organize an eye screening exercise for all tanker
\ndrivers at the\u00a0Tema\u00a0Oil Refinery (TOR).<\/p>\n

The exercise which will take place at the OMC car park of
\nthe\u00a0Tema\u00a0Oil Refinery in September is to help provide quality eyesight
\nfor tanker drivers who play an instrumental role in the petroleum
\ndownstream sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost of the drivers do not normally have time to check their
\neyesight and some of them drive\u00a0at night and\u00a0over long distances. With
\nthe rise of glaucoma and cataract we deem it appropriate to have this
\neye screening\u00a0exercise\u00a0for them so that they will know the status of
\ntheir\u00a0eyesight,\u201d the marketing
\nmanager\u00a0of\u00a0Santol\u00a0Energy\u00a0Michael\u00a0Issifu\u00a0Wepeba\u00a0said\u00a0in an interview.<\/p>\n

According to him, depending on the severity of the eye defect, a
\ndriver will be referred to the appropriate health institution for a
\ncomprehensive eye check-up.<\/p>\n

The eye screening, he said, is part of a major corporate social responsibility to be undertaken by\u00a0Santol\u00a0Energy.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a company, our interest is not only to make a profit. The welfare
\n of our customers, workers and other stakeholders are of profound
\ninterest to us as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe demonstrate\u00a0this\u00a0through the\u00a0prices at which we sell our products
\n which are\u00a0the lowest in the market\u00a0and our\u00a0safety regime exercised at
\nour sales outlets\u00a0are phenomenal\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Santol\u00a0Energy only recently\u00a0received an ISO International certification for its business activities which underlines the credibility of its operations right from safety measures, customer satisfaction,\u00a0human resource\u00a0management and sales operations.<\/p>\n

Issifu\u00a0Wepeba\u00a0said the eye screening exercise is in line with meeting
\n the international standards of safety not just for their workers but
\nfor others who are within the petroleum downstream value chain.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe take health and safety very critical. We make sure that our
\noperations are conducted with minimal or no incident to our workers and
\nclients,\u201d he stated, adding,\u00a0the eye screening exercise is the first of
\nmany corporate social responsibility activities the company will embark
\non.<\/p>\n

\nhallmark.<\/p>\n
