Dr. Amin Adam<\/strong><\/p>\n

DEPUTY ENERGY Minister
\nin charge of petroleum, Dr. Mohammed Amin Anta Amin Adam, has appealed to
\nconsumers of LPG products to support the Cylinder Recirculation Model (CRM)
\npolicy, which is partly to address the issue of petroleum fires in the
\nindustry. <\/p>\n

The National
\nPetroleum Authority (NPA) had a stakeholder meeting with residents of\u00a0 Tamale metropolis to interact with them about
\nthe policy and take their questions, suggestions and feedback, as parts of a
\nlong period to roll out the policy.<\/p>\n

The authority is
\nexpected to undertake a pilot exercise in Obuasi, Kweibibirem and Kade in the
\nEastern Region before the entire programme is rolled out across the country.<\/p>\n

So far, LPG
\nconsumers in the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western and Central regions have been
\nengaged about the policy. Those in the Upper East Region also had their turn on
\nTuesday. <\/p>\n

Interacting with
\nresidents of Tamale metropolis in the Northern Region, Dr. Adam acknowledged
\nthat the policy is not necessarily new, since it had been done some years ago
\nand that is why Ghanaians must embrace it despite the fears being expressed by
\na section of the public. <\/p>\n

Dr. Anta also
\nassured industry players that the policy would not result in any job losses, as
\nit is being speculated. <\/p>\n

\u201cThere are many
\npeople who say we are going to create unemployment through this policy\u2026 I want
\nto assure you that this government will be the last to kick people out of their
\njobs,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n

The Northern
\nRegional Minister, Salifu Sa-eed, who was also at the programme, admonished the
\nresidents to embrace the policy, since it would help address the health
\nchallenges associated with the use of\u00a0
\nwood fuels in the region. <\/p>\n

On his part,
\nChief Executive of the NPA, Hassan Tampuli, reiterated his outfit\u2019s commitment
\nto continue to solicit the views of consumers in the country before the policy
\nis fully implemented. <\/p>\n

Gabriel Kumi of
\nthe LPG Marketers Association, who indicated his outfit\u2019s preparedness to work
\nwith the NPA, appealed to the government to have a look at the tax components
\non LPG products, because it would help open up the market and boost
