Warehouse<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Akufo\u2013Addo
\ngovernment, through the Minister for Special Development Initiatives, has
\nconstructed 50 warehouses at various locations across the country as part of
\ngovernment\u2019s \u2018One district, One warehouse\u2019 initiative.<\/p>\n

The 1000 metric
\ntonne prefabricated warehouses initiative was funded from the $1 million per
\nconstituency allocation under the agriculture infrastructure component of the
\ngovernment\u2019s Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP).<\/p>\n

The 50 out of 80
\nwarehouses are located in Ho Central, Hohoe, Dambai, Dodowa, Efutu, Assin Fous,
\nKasoa, Dunkwa-On-Offin, Deaso, Twifo Praso, Tanoso and Dadeso. <\/p>\n

The rest are in
\nJuaboso, Naaman, Dadieso, Tepa, Drobonso, Ejura, Wonoo, Asaam, Akomadan, Atebubu,
\nSunyani, Techiman, Busunya, Wenchi, Somanya, Mpraeso, Coaltar, Donkokrom,
\nBunkpurugu, Buipe, Yendi, Tolon, Kumbungu, Paga, Navrongo, Sandema, Pusiga,
\nTempani, Bawku, Funsi, Tumu and Lamshigu.<\/p>\n

Each of the
\n1,000-tonne capacity warehouses contains ancillary facilities including offices
\nand laboratories, resting rooms with attached sanitary facilities, chain-link
\nfencing with a gatehouse and solar-powered grain dryers, amongst others.<\/p>\n

Spokesman for the
\nMinistry for Special Development Initiatives, Kabore Awudu Moro, who disclosed this
\nto DAILY GUIDE<\/em> after inspecting some
\nof the projects, said \u201cour target is to construct 80 warehouses this year. As I
\nspeak, the first 50 are at various stages of completion.\u201d<\/p>\n

He explained that
\nthis initiative was targeted at reducing post-harvest losses among smallholder
\nfarmers across the country.<\/p>\n

He added that the
\nprovision of storage would essentially ensure a continuous flow of agricultural
\nproduce, create opportunities along the agricultural value chain and support the
\nimplementation of government\u2019s \u2018Planting for Food and Jobs\u2019 initiative.<\/p>\n

According to Hawa
\nKoomson, the sector minister, her outfit collaborated with the ministries of
\nFood and Agriculture, Health, Local Government and Rural Development, as well
\nas the National Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO), to ensure that the warehouse
\nproject was realized.<\/p>\n

President
\nAkufo-Addo on October 20, 2017 rolled out the \u2018One district, One warehouse\u2019
\ninitiative at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.<\/p>\n
