{"id":676668,"date":"2019-08-09T07:11:34","date_gmt":"2019-08-09T07:11:34","guid":{"rendered":" <br><div data-io-article-url=\"https:\/\/www.adomonline.com\/pds-takes-charge-of-power-retail-as-interim-arrangement\/\">\n            <div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img width=\"696\" height=\"398\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma"},"modified":"2019-08-09T07:11:34","modified_gmt":"2019-08-09T07:11:34","slug":"pds-takes-charge-of-power-retail-as-interim-arrangement-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/08\/09\/pds-takes-charge-of-power-retail-as-interim-arrangement-2\/","title":{"rendered":"PDS takes charge of power retail as &#8216;interim &#8216;arrangement&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div data-io-article-url=\"https:\/\/www.adomonline.com\/pds-takes-charge-of-power-retail-as-interim-arrangement\/\">\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"398\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1564762696_624_PDS-and-ECG-1-696x398.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"PDS and ECG\"\/><\/div>\n<p>Power<br \/>\n Distribution Services (PDS) will still provide all activities related<br \/>\nto electricity retail\u00a0as an interim arrangement, a statement has<br \/>\nrevealed.<\/p>\n<p>The<br \/>\n joint statement by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and PDS said<br \/>\nthe interim arrangement is \u201cto ensure that there is no disruption of<br \/>\npower supply and service delivery\u201d to customers.<\/p>\n<p>Government  last week announced the suspension of the concession agreement with PDS  and brought back ECG to be in full control of power distribution.<\/p>\n<p>Information<br \/>\n Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, who broke the news, said the decision<br \/>\nwas taken after government detected \u201cfundamental and material breaches<br \/>\nof PDS\u2019s obligation in the provision of Payment Securities (Demand<br \/>\nGuarantees) for the transaction which have been discovered upon further<br \/>\ndue diligence.<\/p>\n<p>The Energy Commission, the regulator, subsequently suspended the retail licence for PDS.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, PDS insists it has done nothing wrong and has said government acted in haste.<\/p>\n<p>Read the joint statement by ECG and PDS below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>JOINT PRESS RELEASE BY ECG AND PDS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Following<br \/>\n the issuance of Public Notice No. 030819 by the Energy Commission<br \/>\nappointing Electricity Company of Ghana Ltd as Interim Operator to take<br \/>\ncharge of management and operation of electricity sales and the<br \/>\nretention by Power Distribution Services Ghana Ltd of the Electricity<br \/>\nDistribution License in the Southern Electricity Zone of Ghana, ECG and<br \/>\nPDS have agreed on interim operational modalities.<\/p>\n<p>This is to ensure that there is no disruption of power supply and service delivery to our cherished customers.<\/p>\n<p>As an interim arrangement, the public is hereby notified that PDS will provide the following services on behalf of ECG:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 All activities related to electricity retail sale including but not limited to:<\/p>\n<p>o Meter reading<\/p>\n<p>o Billing<\/p>\n<p>o Distribution of bills<\/p>\n<p>o Bill reconciliation<\/p>\n<p>o Revenue collection<\/p>\n<p>o New service connections<\/p>\n<p>o Disconnections and reconnections<\/p>\n<p>o Faulty meter replacements<\/p>\n<p>o Network faults and repairs<\/p>\n<p>o Complaints and fault reporting to the call centres<\/p>\n<p>o Any other related service<\/p>\n<p>In light of the above, all payments and other related activities shall continue to take place at:<\/p>\n<p>o PDS Regional and District offices<\/p>\n<p>o PDS existing Customer Service Centres<\/p>\n<p>o PDS licensed vending stations<\/p>\n<p>o PDS operated Cash Points<\/p>\n<p>o Banks<\/p>\n<p>All cheques shall be issued in the name of \u201cPower Distribution Services Ghana Limited\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>This interim arrangement shall be in force from 8th of August, 2019 until the reversal or otherwise by the Energy Commission.<\/p>\n<p>ECG and PDS assure the general public that we will continue to provide quality electricity services to our cherished customers.<\/p>\n<p>All enquiries should be directed to PDS Call Centre No. 0302-611611 and all existing social media handles.<\/p>\n<p>ISSUED JOINTLY BY MANAGEMENT OF ECG AND PDS<\/p>\n<p>Source: Myjoyonline.com<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Power Distribution Services (PDS) will still provide all activities related to electricity retail\u00a0as an interim arrangement, a statement has revealed.
