{"id":672296,"date":"2019-08-05T12:23:47","date_gmt":"2019-08-05T12:23:47","guid":{"rendered":" <br><div>\n\t\t\n<p><strong>The dignitaries and participants in a photograph after the opening session<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nMinister of Aviation, Joseph Kofi Adda, has said Ghana\u2019s vision towards\nbecoming an aviation hub in the sub-region is on course.<\/p>"},"modified":"2019-08-05T12:23:47","modified_gmt":"2019-08-05T12:23:47","slug":"ghanas-aviation-vision-on-track-minister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/08\/05\/ghanas-aviation-vision-on-track-minister\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghana\u2019s Aviation Vision On Track &#8211; Minister"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>The dignitaries and participants in a photograph after the opening session<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The<br \/>\nMinister of Aviation, Joseph Kofi Adda, has said Ghana\u2019s vision towards<br \/>\nbecoming an aviation hub in the sub-region is on course.<\/p>\n<p>He<br \/>\nsaid already a number of infrastructural developments had been rolled out in<br \/>\nthe past years including terminal buildings, new AIR Navigation Services (ANS)<br \/>\nbuilding, extension of airside and landside infrastructure, as well as<br \/>\ninstallation of modern air navigation equipment and capacity building of aviation<br \/>\nsector professionals. <\/p>\n<p>The<br \/>\nsector minister further indicated that the government had reviewed and enhanced<br \/>\nbilateral air services agreements (BASA). \u201cThe process is ongoing and we hope<br \/>\nto launch the HUB in the next couple of months,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He<br \/>\nwas speaking at the 22<sup>nd<\/sup> meeting of Africa-Indian Ocean Planning and<br \/>\nImplementation Regional Group (APIRG\/22) and the fifth meeting of the AFI<br \/>\nRegional Aviation Safety Group (RASG-AFI\/5) in Accra. <\/p>\n<p>The<br \/>\nfive-day conference has over 200 participants from the International Civil<br \/>\nAviation Organization (ICAO) member states in the Africa region, including key<br \/>\nstakeholders from international civil aviation sector. <\/p>\n<p>Regional<br \/>\nDirector ICAO West and Central Africa Office and Secretary for RASG-AFI, Mam<br \/>\nSait Jallow, lauded Ghana for obtaining effective implementation rate of 89.89<br \/>\nper cent \u2013 the highest in Africa after ICAO\u2019s Co-ordinated Validation Mission<br \/>\n(ICVM) in April 2019.<\/p>\n<p>He<br \/>\nnoted that a decent number of states in the Accra Flight Information Region<br \/>\napart from Ghana had recorded equally impressive outcomes after similar audits<br \/>\nwere conducted. He, however, called on member states to leverage the many<br \/>\nopportunities that the sector offers to achieve excellence in their operations<br \/>\nin the safety and security areas.<\/p>\n<p>The<br \/>\nDirector General, Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Ing. Simon Allotey, said Ghana<br \/>\nhad reached this impressive milestone through strategic collaboration and<br \/>\npartnership with other industry partners. He added that no single state could<br \/>\noptimize its air navigation system by going solo. <\/p>\n<p>He<br \/>\nnoted that being number one puts a bit of a challenge on the country to<br \/>\nmaintain its position.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne area we are focusing on continuously is human capacity development.
