Minister for Communications, Mrs Ursula Owusu- Ekuful, reiterating the Akufo-Addo-led administration\u2019s commitment to improve cyber security in Ghana, says it is a priority to the government.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t exaggerate issues of cyber security, it is just that the implications are huge because someone can be elsewhere and infiltrate our system within a second so the time to improve cyber-security is now,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

According to the Minister, the establishment of a cyber-security authority and centre to deal with all matters related to cyber-crime and security in the digital ecosystem shows how important the idea is to the government.<\/p>\n

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM\u2019s Ekosii <\/strong>show, Madam Ursula Ekuful said government will commit all necessary resources to make the project a success.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have signed unto the Budapest Convention which seeks to facilitate international cooperation arrangements to respond to existing and emerging cyber threats, through prevention, investigations, and prosecutions of cyber-crimes.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also intend to improve the forensic capabilities of the Criminal Investigations Department and other law enforcement agencies in Ghana to enable officers to investigate and prosecute cyber-facilitated crimes,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
