Gavel<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\nA businessman, Wahab Lukmon, on Thursday, prayed an
\nEgbe-Idumu Customary Court to grant his wife, Olabisi\u2019s request for divorce
\nbecause she wants him dead. <\/p>\n
Olabisi sought the dissolution of their marriage,
\naccusing Lukmon of not taking care of her children. <\/p>\n
Testifying in court, Lukmon alleged that after
\nsurviving an accident during a trip, his wife was not happy that he returned
\nsafely. <\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I got home, my wife was angry to see me. The
\nfirst question she asked me was \u201cYou did not die?\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cI was perplexed I asked if she wanted me dead. She said yes because she wants to be a widow like my mother,\u201d he cried.<\/p>\n
The respondent also alleged that his wife was behind
\nhim being shot with an arrow in his sleep.<\/p>\n
\u201cI left my house since January out of fear. Olabisi may come with another plan to terminate my life. I urge the court to grant her wish for divorce,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
However, the mother of four, Mrs Olabisi Lukmon, said:
\n\u201cLukmon is an irresponsible husband and father; he does not care for us. He has
\nstopped giving me money because he thinks that I will use it to get charms to
\nuse against him. My husband accused me of sleeping with a cleric. I only visit
\nfor prayers, nothing more.\u201d <\/p>\n
The 37-year-old businesswoman accused her husband of
\nabandoning the house since March 2018. <\/p>\n
She begged the court to terminate the marriage
\nbecause she was no longer interested.<\/p>\n
The president of the court, Mr Akwe Alfred, urged the two parties to maintain peace and adjourned the case to Aug. 6 for judgment.<\/p>\n
