Editor-in-Chief of
\nIntegrity Magazine, Rev. Kennedy Okosun, has indicated that the insurance
\nindustry could overtake the banking sector in Ghana in terms of Gross Domestic
\nProduct (GDP).<\/p>\n

According to him, sound
\npolicies have resulted in the insurance industry taking over the banking sector
\nin some countries around the world.<\/p>\n

He was speaking at the
\nlaunch of Integrity Magazine Insurance Breakfast Meeting scheduled for August
\n9, 2019.<\/p>\n

The meeting is to be
\nheld under the theme: \u201cMaintaining the Fiduciary Relationship between the insured
\npublic and their insurers\u201d. And it would bring together about 150 heads and
\nofficials of the insurance industry in Ghana.<\/p>\n

According to him, the
\ninsurance industry plays a very important role in the economy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe business
\n(insurance) is a well developed one and even though the penetration is low, it
\ncontinues to generate year on year profits,\u201d he disclosed.<\/p>\n

He noted that a well developed
\ninsurance industry would improve the stability of the financial markets and
\nprotect individuals and businesses from losses through natural disasters or
\naccidents.<\/p>\n

He urged every Ghanaian
\nto take insurance seriously, saying the insurance industry should be one that
\nevery Ghanaian pays attention to.<\/p>\n

\u201cInsurance should not be
\nleft to only those perceived to be wealthy or have the means. You may think
\ninsurance is not important to you because you do not have a car or a house or
\nsome very valuable property that costs so much need to insure,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He noted that some Ghanaians seem to be suspicious about insurers.<\/p>\n
