The United States accused Iran of \u201cescalatory violence\u201d on Friday after the country\u2019s Revolutionary Guards announced they had confiscated a British tanker in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n
Asked about the latest incident as he departed the White House, President Donald Trump told reporters there could be more than one tanker involved.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt could be one, it could be two,\u201d Trump said. \u201cWe will talk to the UK. We\u2019ll be working with the UK.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Swedish owner of the UK-flagged tanker Stena Impero confirmed Friday the ship had been \u201cattacked\u201d and was heading towards Iran. <\/p>\n
CNN quoted an unnamed US official as saying Iran had seized a second tanker, the Liberian-flagged MV Mesdar.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe US will continue to work with our allies and partners to defend our security and interests against Iran\u2019s malign behavior,\u201d National Security Council spokesman Garrett Marquis said in a statement, denouncing \u201cescalatory violence by the Iranian regime.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/article>\n
