{"id":658289,"date":"2019-07-17T13:09:36","date_gmt":"2019-07-17T13:09:36","guid":{"rendered":" <br><div>\n\t\t\n<p><strong>Frank Annoh-Dompreh <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has highly commended President Akufo-Addo for his political commitment in getting the Secretariat of African"},"modified":"2019-07-17T13:09:36","modified_gmt":"2019-07-17T13:09:36","slug":"foreign-affairs-chairman-commends-govt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/07\/17\/foreign-affairs-chairman-commends-govt\/","title":{"rendered":"Foreign Affairs Chairman Commends Gov\u2019t"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Frank Annoh-Dompreh <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has highly commended President Akufo-Addo for his political commitment in getting the Secretariat of African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) sited in the country.<\/p>\n<p>He said now that the African Union had<br \/>\nconfirmed Ghana\u2019s hosting of the Secretariat, the country stands to gain<br \/>\ntremendously from employment creation, influx of goods and services and a boost<br \/>\nin the tourism industry.<\/p>\n<p>He indicated that the upcoming intra-African<br \/>\ntrade would generate $16 billion for African economies and make the economies<br \/>\nvery attractive for direct foreign investments.<\/p>\n<p>He said Ghana had managed to maintain ideal<br \/>\nbilateral relationships with other states within and outside Africa and this<br \/>\ncertainly speaks volumes about the capability of the nation to competently<br \/>\nmanage the AfCFTA Secretariat.<\/p>\n<p>The chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee<br \/>\nof Parliament, who is also the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament<br \/>\nfor Nsawam\/Adoagyiri, made the comments in a statement in Parliament on Tuesday<br \/>\non the expected impact of the AfCFTA.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the AfCFTA would create a<br \/>\nsingle continental market for goods and services with free movement of business<br \/>\npersons and investments, adding that it would also definitely expand<br \/>\nIntra-African trade through better harmonization and coordination of trade<br \/>\nliberalization across the continent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Speaker, the AfCFTA will resolve the<br \/>\nchallenges of multiple and overlapping memberships and also expedite the<br \/>\nregional and continental integration process,\u201d he said pointing out that competitiveness<br \/>\nwould be enhanced at the industry and enterprise levels. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the people in Ghana, AfCTFA Secretariat established in the country will have a great advantage that all of us need to make good use of especially in our current regime to industrialise under the \u2018one district, one factory\u2019 and produce goods sufficiently,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>By Thomas Fosu Jnr <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Frank Annoh-Dompreh The chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has highly commended President Akufo-Addo for his political commitment in getting the Secretariat of African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) sited in the country.
