ORGANISERS OF the 7th<\/sup> All Africa Conference on Animal Agriculture (AACAA) have indicated that the upcoming event aims to complement government\u2019s \u2018Rearing for Meat and Jobs\u2019 initiative, which is targeted at increasing animal production through a globally acceptable framework. <\/p>\n

Themed: \u201cInnovations
\nto ensure the future of animal agriculture in Africa in a globalizing world\u201d,
\nthe event, a rotational quadrennial one for African countries, is slated for
\nMonday, 29th July to Friday 2nd<\/sup> August, 2019, at the Accra
\nInternational Conference Centre.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Ghana has
\nbecome the first country in West Africa to host it this year with the headline
\nsponsor being the USDA.<\/p>\n

As the
\nsingle largest event that brings together all stakeholders in the livestock
\nindustry under one roof, the conference is expecting about 500 local and
\ninternational participants made up of policymakers, animal scientists, farmers,
\nand private sector financial institutions, among others.<\/p>\n

Director of
\nthe Animal Production Directorate, Ministry of Agriculture, Edwin Bekoe, stated
\nthe importance of keeping livestock as it formed a pivotal link in the Ghanaian
\nfarming and livelihood systems. <\/p>\n

He
\nhighlighted that livestock production accounted for 14 per cent of agricultural
\nGDP as it was a major source of income for most farmers in the country. He
\nadded that it would reduce rural poverty.<\/p>\n

The All
\nAfrican Society for Animal Production (AASAP) is collaborating with the Ghana
\nSociety of Animal Production (GSAP), Ghana Animal Science Association (GASA)
\nand Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA), to host it under the
\nauspices of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) in Ghana.<\/p>\n

The 2019
\nedition of the livestock, poultry and fisheries trade show (LiPF) which is an
\ninitiative of MoFA and Agrihouse Foundation will run alongside the 7th AACAA. <\/p>\n

It is an
\ninitiative that aims to showcase and promote the country\u2019s livestock, poultry and
\nfisheries production, value chain and job opportunities through exhibitions and
