He believes<br \/>\ndirect interaction with individual customers and business operators will give<br \/>\nmanagement a deeper understanding of their specific needs.<\/p>\n<p>Small and<br \/>\nMedium Enterprises (SMEs) in particular have over the years lamented the<br \/>\nchallenges associated with accessing credit from commercial banks in the<br \/>\ncountry, a phenomenon that makes it difficult for most SMEs to survive their<br \/>\nfirst five years.<\/p>\n<p>NIB is<br \/>\nexpected to become one of the strongest banks in the country following<br \/>\ngovernment\u2019s assurance to recapitalize it on the heels of a Bank of Ghana<br \/>\nrequirement for all commercial banks in the country to have a minimum capital<br \/>\nof 400 million cedis.<\/p>\n<p>A revitalized<br \/>\nNIB, according to Mr. Sarpong, would support the nation\u2019s industrialization<br \/>\nagenda by making funds easily accessible to, especially the manufacturing sectors<br \/>\nof the economy. <\/p>\n<p>The MD also<br \/>\nintimated that \u201cNIB is going to be more responsive to the needs of businesses<br \/>\nthan it has ever been. This includes the deployment of smart banking solutions<br \/>\nand products that would meet the specific needs of all our customers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He, however,<br \/>\nencouraged business owners to adopt practices and strategies such as proper<br \/>\nrecord-keeping, prompt debt payments, regular savings, among others, to<br \/>\nengender confidence among business partners and financial institution, thereby<br \/>\nmaking it easy for them to access funds. <\/p>\n<p>The MD was<br \/>\naccompanied on the tour by the deputy managing director, George Alfred Thompson,<br \/>\nAccra Main branch manager George Addae-Mensah, Excel Banking manager Aba Katu and<br \/>\nNewlife Selorm Kudzo Amey of the Customer Services Unit.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Samuel Sarpong (in front) strolls the market THE NATIONAL Investment Bank (NIB) has assured small and medium\u2013scale enterprises (SMEs) of its continuous assistance to them in terms of growing and sustaining them.
