"},"modified":"2019-07-04T01:58:09","modified_gmt":"2019-07-04T01:58:09","slug":"barclays-ghana-marks-sme-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/07\/04\/barclays-ghana-marks-sme-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Barclays Ghana Marks SME Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>B<\/strong><em><strong>Mrs Grace Anim-Yeboah interacts with owners of SMEs<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Barclays<br \/>\nBank Ghana marked this year\u2019s World SME Day in Tamale by organising a special SME<br \/>\nclinic for businesses in northern Ghana. <\/p>\n<p>This was to help<br \/>\nthem benefit from the bank\u2019s tailor-made capacity-building programme aimed at<br \/>\neducating and supporting SMEs in running a sound and sustainable business.<\/p>\n<p>The World<br \/>\nSME Day is a United Nations recognized day to raise public awareness about the contribution<br \/>\nof small and medium enterprises to sustainable development. <\/p>\n<p>The UN<br \/>\nGeneral Assembly, recognizing the importance of SMEs, decided to declare 27<sup>th<\/sup><br \/>\nJune <sup>\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup>asthe micro, small and<br \/>\nmedium-sized enterprises Day.The Day was first celebrated in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to<br \/>\nparticipants, Business Banking Director at Barclays Bank Ghana, Grace<br \/>\nAnim-Yeboah, said SMEs formed a core part of the bank\u2019s business and these capacity-building<br \/>\nengagements are to help SME clients improve their business processes, implement<br \/>\ngood corporate governance structures, improve customer service, instill<br \/>\nexcellent human resource management practices and have better access to credit.\n<\/p>\n<p>Nana<br \/>\nEssilfuah Boison, Marketing and Corporate Relations Director, used the occasion<br \/>\nto update partcipants on the bank\u2019s transition to Absa, and\u00a0 the opportunities the change presented to<br \/>\ncustomers and all other stakeholders of the bank. <\/p>\n<p>About 400 SMEs benefitted from the training. Beneficiary SMEs were<br \/>\nalso taken through a series of sessions including Group Imports, Credit<br \/>\nSanctioning, Fraud Alerts and Forex Trading, among others.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>They were<br \/>\nalso introduced to the bank\u2019s various products and services developed for their<br \/>\nbenefit.\u00a0 Among the \u00a0new products and services for businesses are \u00a0Digital Banking, Mobile Money Collection<br \/>\nSolution and Barclays Business Club.<\/p>\n<p>Last year,<br \/>\nthe Barclays SME clinics supported more than 750 clients with various capacity-building<br \/>\nprogrammes.
