EXXONMOBIL HAS opened a new office in
\nAccra to progress its offshore exploration programmes.<\/p>\n

ExxonMobil
\nExploration & Production Ghana (Deepwater) Limited acquired rights in 2018
\nto explore the \u00a0\u00a0Deepwater Cape Three Points block. <\/p>\n

This led to
\nthe ratification of the petroleum agreement in April, this year.<\/p>\n

The company
\nplans to begin its 3-D seismic acquisition later this year and\u00a0once the
\nseismic programme has been completed, together with partners including Ghana
\nNational Petroleum Commission (GNPC) and GOIL Offshore Limited, the company
\nwill evaluate the potential for drilling its first exploration well in the
\ncountry. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis office
\nwill help us progress our exploration programme in Ghana,\u201d said Pam Darwin, vice-president
\nof sub-Saharan Africa exploration and new ventures at ExxonMobil. \u201cWe look
\nforward to working closely with our partners and the government to bring value
\nto the Ghanaian people through our business and community involvement,\u201d she
\nadded.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe
\nappreciate the support we have received from all of our stakeholders in Ghana,
\nparticularly from Energy Minister John Peter Amewu and his team,\u201d she stressed.<\/p>\n

The
\nDeepwater Cape Three Points block, located 57 miles (92 kilometres) off the
\ncoast of Ghana, measures approximately 366,000 acres (1,482 square kilometres)
\nin water depths ranging from 5,085 feet to 9,350 feet (1,550 metres to 2,850
\nmetres).<\/p>\n

ExxonMobil
\nholds 80 per cent interest in the Deepwater Cape Three Point block. Besides,
\nGhana National Petroleum Corporation holds 15 per cent, while GOIL Offshore
\nLimited holds 5 per cent.<\/p>\n
