A baby in Indonesia has been awarded the title of \u201cworld\u2019s strangest name\u201d after it was revealed that his parents legally registered him as \u201cGoogle\u201d; no surname or middle name, just Google, just like the search engine.<\/p>\n

The eight-month-old boy\u2019s father, 31-year-old Andi Cahya Saputra, told Indonesian media that he first contemplated the idea of giving his child a tech-related name when his wife was seven months pregnant. Before that, he had considered more common names, like Albar Dirgantara Putra, or names mentioned in the Quran, but in the end he decided that none of them were quite right. So he ended up looking at names of technology companies and products like \u201cWindows, iPhone, Microsoft and iOS\u201d, and ultimately settled on Google. Although the mother didn\u2019t really like the idea at first, she ultimately agreed and now they have a boy named after the world\u2019s most popular internet search engine.<\/p>\n

Local media in south-western Indonesia\u2019s West Java Province\u00a0recently reported\u00a0that the boy\u2019s mother, 27-year-old Ella Karin was too embarrassed to reveal his name to the world for the first three months, referring to him solely as \u2018baby boy\u2019. She has grown quite fond of Google, though, and now says that she\u00a0hopes her son will become \u201ca leader\u201d of \u201cmany people\u201d.<\/p>\n

Asked why they didn\u2019t at least include a surname or a second name on Google\u2019s birth certificate, Andi Cahya Saputra said that he didn\u2019t want to \u201cdilute\u201d the essence of the boy\u2019s special name.<\/p>\n

\u201cI told my father, \u2018Pak, Google has a great meaning, because I hope Google can help many people, become a useful person to others,\u2019\u201d Google\u2019s father added. \u201cGoogle is number one in the world, the site most visited by people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ella admitted that people like to joke about their choice of name for their son, saying that if they ever have another child they\u2019ll name it \u201cWhatsApp\u201d, but she says it doesn\u2019t bother her that much, because they just don\u2019t understand the \u201cmeaning\u201d of Google\u2019s name.<\/p>\n
