{"id":646687,"date":"2019-06-28T13:05:49","date_gmt":"2019-06-28T13:05:49","guid":{"rendered":"<br><div>\n<p class=\"floatLeft\">General News of Friday, 28 June 2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"floatRight\"><strong>Source: <\/strong>dailyguidenetwork.com<\/p>\n2019-06-28\n\n<div class=\"article-left\">\n<p class=\"article-image\"><img src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ghana-mma.com\/2019\/06\/15"},"modified":"2019-06-28T13:05:49","modified_gmt":"2019-06-28T13:05:49","slug":"napo-sues-sammy-gyamfi-general-news-2019-06-28","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/06\/28\/napo-sues-sammy-gyamfi-general-news-2019-06-28\/","title":{"rendered":"Napo sues Sammy Gyamfi | General News 2019-06-28"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"floatLeft\">General News of Friday, 28 June 2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"floatRight\"><strong>Source: <\/strong>dailyguidenetwork.com<\/p>\n<p>2019-06-28<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-left\">\n<p class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ghanamma.com\/2019\/06\/1561727149_538_13658135.295.jpg\" alt=\"Sammy Gyamfi NAPO\" title=\"Sammy Gyamfi NAPO\" width=\"295\" height=\"177\" \/><span class=\"image_caption\"><span>Sammy Gyamfi and Education Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"clear:right\">The Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has dragged National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, to court for defamation.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Prempeh, popularly called Napo, who doubles as Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, wants the court to fine Sammy Gyamfi GH\u00a21 million for allegedly making alleged defamatory statements about him.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the huge cash fine, the writ of summons filed on June 25 by Sarkodie Baffuor Awuah &amp; Partners, said Dr. Prempeh had asked the court to order Sammy Gyamfi to retract and apologize for the defamatory statement within seven days after the judgement.<\/p>\n<p><b><\/b>Statement of Claim<\/p>\n<p>In the plaintiff\u2019s statement of claim, he averred that Sammy Gyamfi had greatly injured his positive image by falsely linking him to one Seidu Yakubu, aka \u2018Mba\u2019, the alleged ringleader in the kidnapping of the two Canadian girls in Kumasi recently.<\/p>\n<p>The lawyers said the defendant\u2019s statement had dented Napo\u2019s image both in Ghana and abroad, considering the fact that the said statement was widely captured in the media and other electronic platforms.<\/p>\n<p>The statement said over his entire public and private life, Napo has led a decent lifestyle worthy of emulation and so Sammy Gyamfi had no justification to link him with miscreants to dent his image.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, Sammy Gyamfi, by his statement, intentionally portrayed Napo as a person who supports thuggery, kidnapping and other illegal acts without any proof.<\/p>\n<p><b><\/b>Plaintiff\u2019s Request<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, lawyers for Napo prayed the court to restrain Sammy Gyamfi and his agents from further making or publishing defamatory words against him.<\/p>\n<p>They also urged the court to order Sammy Gyamfi to apologize and retract the defamatory statement with the same prominence the defamatory words received within seven days after the judgment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>General News of Friday, 28 June 2019 Source: dailyguidenetwork.com 2019-06-28 Sammy Gyamfi and Education Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh The Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has dragged National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, to court for defamation.
