{"id":645615,"date":"2019-06-25T22:58:26","date_gmt":"2019-06-25T22:58:26","guid":{"rendered":"<br><div>\n<figure class=\"fff post-thumbnail\" itemprop=\"associatedMedia\" itemscope=\"\" itemtype=\"http:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\"><img class=\"post_layout_5_img\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ghana-mma.com\/2019\/06\/Duncan-Amoah-Executive-Secretary-of-the-Chamber-of-Petroleu"},"modified":"2019-06-25T22:58:26","modified_gmt":"2019-06-25T22:58:26","slug":"copec-claims-some-indicted-fuel-stations-still-shortchanging-customers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/06\/25\/copec-claims-some-indicted-fuel-stations-still-shortchanging-customers\/","title":{"rendered":"COPEC claims some indicted fuel stations still shortchanging customers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<figure class=\"fff post-thumbnail\" itemprop=\"associatedMedia\" itemscope=\"\" itemtype=\"http:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"post_layout_5_img\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ghanamma.com\/2019\/06\/Duncan-Amoah-Executive-Secretary-of-the-Chamber-of-Petroleum-Consumers-COPEC-6.jpg\" alt=\"COPEC claims some indicted fuel stations still shortchanging customers\"\/><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Three more filling stations have been found to be still shortchanging customers after a follow up by the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Frimps Oil on the Kasoa road, Goodness Service Station, and the Shell service station at Amanfrom have since been advised by the chamber to shut down.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Duncan Amoah, the Executive Director of COPEC, said at a press briefing on Monday that COPEC will continue to ensure that consumers are not cheated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a statement, the executive director discussed the possibility of compensation being provided to customers. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe are saying that [for] the said stations mentioned, there should be a compensation mechanism to the public\u2026It is when that compensation mechanism between us and them fails that we will be forced to pursue this matter legally,\u201d Mr. Amoah said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to compensation, COPEC is also recommending legal action against the identified filling stations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Unannounced visits to filling stations <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">COPEC\u2019s recent announcement comes after the Ghana Standards Authority made unannounced visits at 65 fuel stations in Accra two weeks ago. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the visit 10 filling stations were found to be under providing fuel to customers and fined Ghc 5,000.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Shell station at the Motorway Extension; Total at McCarthyHill in Accra; GOIL at Mile 11; Frimps Oil at Tetegu junction; GOIL at Galilea; and Frimps Oil on Spintex Road were part of the 10 filling stations that the GSA sanctioned.<\/p>\n<p>Glory Oil on the Spintex Road; Allied Oil at Sakaman; Shell at Amanfrom West and Goodness Energy at Kasoa were also part of the 10 stations that were sanctioned.<\/p>\n<p>The exercise was taken to evaluate the accuracy of fuel dispensing pumps used by fuel dealers, and check whether fuel stations have the 10 L visugauges.<\/p>\n<p>Dispensing pumps were also checked to ensure their GSA plastic seals were not tampered with.<\/p>\n<p>After the investigation, COPEC stated they believed the fines given to the under-delivering stations should be fined higher.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"ctx-article-root\"\/>  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a style=\"display:none\" rel=\"follow\" href=\"http:\/\/megatheme.ir\/\" title=\"\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633\">\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three more filling stations have been found to be still shortchanging customers after a follow up by the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers.
