<\/div>\nPresident Donald Trump said in an interview aired Sunday that he\u2019s not prepared to lose the 2020 presidential election.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt would be much better if I said, \u2018Yeah.\u2019 It would be much easier for me to say, \u2018Oh, yes.\u2019 No, I\u2019m probably not too prepared to lose. I don\u2019t like losing. I haven\u2019t lost very much in my life,\u201d Trump told NBC\u2019s \u201cMeet the Press.\u201d<\/p>\n
Trump also subsequently reasserted that he doesn\u2019t \u201cbelieve\u201d in the validity of \u201ca lot\u201d of votes cast which show he lost the popular vote in 2016 to Hillary Clinton.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll say something that, again, is controversial. There were a lot of votes cast that I don\u2019t believe,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n
Outwardly, the President seems to be trudging forward with the idea that he\u2019s an unstoppable candidate \u2014 tweeting out a video on Friday showing fictitious Trump campaign signs (e.g. \u201cTrump 2040\u201d) for every election until just about the end of time.<\/p>\n
But within the Trump campaign, polling numbers suggest some concern over his viability in some key states.<\/p>\n
The Trump campaign fired several pollsters after internal polling numbers showed the President lagging behind Democratic presidential candidates in key states were made public, multiple sources told CNN last week.<\/p>\n
CNN and other outlets first reported the numbers \u2014 which showed Trump trailing former Vice President Joe Biden in states like Michigan and Wisconsin \u2014 weeks earlier, but a purge of the polling team was proposed after Trump grew angry about coverage of them.<\/p>\n
On \u201cMeet the Press,\u201d the President also spoke about the upcoming election, confirming that Vice President Mike Pence would be his running mate for his 2020 run.<\/p>\n
But Trump stopped short of offering Pence an endorsement for a hypothetical 2024 presidential run because the prospect is \u201cso far out.\u201d Trump was asked the same hypothetical earlier this month on \u201cFox and Friends.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not even thinking of it. It\u2019s so far out. I mean, It\u2019s so far out. That would be the only reason,\u201d Trump told \u201cMeet the Press,\u201d Sunday adding, \u201cNow what happens in 2024? I don\u2019t know that Mike is going to run. I don\u2019t know who\u2019s running or anything else.\u201d<\/p>\n
Trump also said it was a \u201ctremendous embarrassment\u201d to Biden that former President Barack Obama\u2019s hadn\u2019t endorsed the former vice president yet.<\/p>\n
He also said he \u201cmay\u201d address election interference with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the upcoming G20 summit.<\/p>\n
\u201cAre you going to tell him not to do it?\u201d \u201cMeet the Press\u201d host Chuck Todd asked.<\/p>\n
Trump responded, \u201cI may if you\u2019d like me to do it, I\u2019ll do that.\u201d<\/p>\n
The President said he believes House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is not giving in to pressure from within her caucus to initiate impeachment proceedings because she fears doing so would benefit him politically.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think she feels that I will win much easier,\u201d Trump said. \u201cI mean, I\u2019ve been told that by many people.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite arguing impeachment would boost his reelection prospects, the President said he does not like the specter of impeachment hanging over him.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not sure that I like having it. Look, I did nothing wrong,\u201d Trump said before calling impeachment \u201ca very unfair thing.\u201d<\/p>\n
