<\/div>\nImoh Umoren, film director \u201cLagos: Sex, Lies and Traffic,\u2019 says the film x-rays the multi-faceted lives of Lagosians from all walks of life.<\/p>\n
Umoren is known for his socially conscious work, especially producing the first black and white silent film in Nollywood \u2018Hard Times\u2019 which won an Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) in 2015.<\/p>\n
The trailer for \u2018Lagos: Sex, Lies and Traffic\u2019 sees actor, Kelechi Udegbe, playing a ghetto bred hustler while Keira Hewatch plays the high-handed and ambitious wife of William Benson, a political aspirant, NAN reports.<\/p>\n
Made for M-Net, the film tells the story of a poster boy of Lagos Politics Dejo, who decides to have an affair which threatens to derail his political campaign and his marriage.<\/p>\n
Discovering his mistress is pregnant, Dejo\u2019s wife, Tolu decides to get rid of her to avoid a scandal. According to Umoren, \u201cit is a series of interconnected stories which weave into one final act; A murder.\u201d<\/p>\n
Speaking further in an interview with NAN on Thursday, he said, \u201cBasically you can sum up Lagos in those three words \u2018Sex, Lies and Traffic\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople have sex with such intensity around here you will think mankind is about to go extinct and we are trying to repopulate.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are lied to by preachers, presidents and Ponzi schemes and in all of this you are stuck in traffic. Lagos:Sex,Lies and Traffic is a parallel story of the lives of people from different backgrounds that eventually merges.<\/p>\n
\u201cA Poster boy Politician gets his mistress pregnant and they have to cover it up or his political ambition is in jeopardy.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo in this film we have drug dealers, prostitutes, politicians, area boys, corrupt police men, taxi drivers; essentially everyone you will meet in Lagos. But there\u2019s a lot of political undertones in the film,\u201d Umoren said.<\/p>\n
He told NAN that he co-wrote the script with Gbemisola Afolabi in order to capture various elements of the city and introduce new angles.<\/p>\n
Umoren reveals that \u2018Lagos: Sex, Lies and Traffic\u2019 has a different storytelling pattern from his previous works which focus on a central character and storyline.<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cLagos:Sex, Lies and Traffic\u2019 is different because I have stories that run concurrently through the film.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy typical style is usually one primary thread from top to bottom because I never want viewers to be let off the intensity of a character by offering subplots that softens it.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo the subplots of those ones lead right back to the line of fire. It is also my second film I have collaborated on in terms of writing. I also did that with club.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t want to be the \u2018agony uncle\u2019 of Nollywood. I have people still trying to kill me off \u2018The Happyness Limited\u2019 and \u2018Children of Mud\u2019 so if you follow my work you will see the difference,\u201d Umoren said.<\/p>\n
Umoren became famous for making Indie films after his 2009 production, \u2018Lemon Green\u2019 got nominated for many awards and premiered at several film festivals.<\/p>\n
Since then, he has worked on other indie films including primetime drama shows such as \u2018Oghenekome\u2019 which featured Nollywood stars, Ramsey Nouah and Segun Arinze.<\/p>\n
In 2018, his work \u2018Children of Mud\u2019 got four nominations at the AMVCA including a Best Actress nominations for one of its actors, 11-year-old Mariam Kayode.<\/p>\n
Umoren has also worked on \u2018MTV Advance Warning,\u2019 \u2018Project Fame,\u2019 \u2018Don\u2019t Forget The Lyrics,\u2019 and \u2018Malta Guinness Street Dance.\u2019<\/p>\n
