Pope Francis has lamented what he calls today\u2019s \u201cculture of insults\u201d in the world.<\/p>\n

In his homily during Pentecost Mass Sunday in St. Peter\u2019s Square, Francis also decried that \u201cthe more we use social media, the less social we are becoming.\u201d<\/p>\n

He warned of the temptation to cling to \u201cour little group, to the things and people we like,\u201d saying it\u2019s only a \u201csmall step from a nest to a sect, even within the church.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pope said that \u201cnowadays it is fashionable to hurl adjectives\u201d in what\u2019s tantamount to \u201ca culture of insults.\u201d He recommended responding to \u201cto malice with goodness.\u201d<\/p>\n

Francis also said the Catholic church risks becoming a mere organisation with propaganda as its mission instead of a mission to foster joy and harmony.<\/p>\n
