Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, the duchess of Sussex, have named their two-day-old son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor after showing him to the public for the first time on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Harry and Meghan announced the names on their official Instagram account but did not say why they chose them or whether the infant will hold any royal titles.<\/p>\n

They said they showed Queen Elizabeth II, Harry\u2019s 93-year-old grandmother, her eighth great-grandchild earlier on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The queen\u2019s husband, Prince Philip, and Meghan\u2019s mother, Doria Ragland, were \u201calso present for this special occasion,\u201d they added, posting a black-and-white photograph of the group smiling at Archie as Meghan held him.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s magic, it\u2019s pretty amazing. I have the two best guys in the world so I\u2019m really happy,\u201d Meghan told reporters earlier as Harry held Archie inside the royal Windsor Castle, West of London.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has the sweetest temperament, he\u2019s really calm,\u201d Meghan added.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wonder who he gets that from?\u201d Harry joked.<\/p>\n

Asked how he liked being a parent, Harry replied: \u201cIt\u2019s great. Parenting is amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s only been two and a half days, three days, but we\u2019re just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy,\u201d Harry added.<\/p>\n

Archie, who is seventh in line to the British throne, is expected to hold dual citizenship of Britain and the U.S.<\/p>\n

Congratulations have poured in from well-wishers in Britain and other countries, including many celebrities, since Meghan gave birth early on Monday to a boy weighing 3.26 kilogrammes.<\/p>\n

Harry, 34, is the second son of the heir to the throne, Prince Charles.<\/p>\n

Harry married former actress Meghan, 37, in a spectacular wedding at the royal Windsor Castle in May 2018.<\/p>\n

The queen and Philip now have four children, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n

Prince William, who has three young children with his wife Kate, the duchess of Cambridge, welcomed his younger brother to \u201cthe sleep deprivation society\u201d on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The queen\u2019s grandfather, King George V, changed the royal family\u2019s name from the German Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to Windsor \u2013 after Windsor Castle \u2013 in 1917 during World War I.<\/p>\n

Philip also changed his name during World War I after his grandfather, Prince Louis of Battenberg, adopted the family name Mountbatten.<\/p>\n
