{"id":628172,"date":"2019-05-30T08:54:18","date_gmt":"2019-05-30T08:54:18","guid":{"rendered":"<br><div>\n<figure class=\"fff post-thumbnail\" itemprop=\"associatedMedia\" itemscope=\"\" itemtype=\"http:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\"><img class=\"post_layout_5_img\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ghana-mma.com\/2019\/05\/bawumia-ghana-card.jpg\" alt=\"Gov\u2019t will not accept cash for"},"modified":"2019-05-30T08:54:18","modified_gmt":"2019-05-30T08:54:18","slug":"govt-will-not-accept-cash-for-service-delivery-by-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/05\/30\/govt-will-not-accept-cash-for-service-delivery-by-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov\u2019t will not accept cash for service delivery by 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<figure class=\"fff post-thumbnail\" itemprop=\"associatedMedia\" itemscope=\"\" itemtype=\"http:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"post_layout_5_img\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ghanamma.com\/2019\/05\/bawumia-ghana-card.jpg\" alt=\"Gov\u2019t will not accept cash for service delivery by 2020 \u2013 Bawumia\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>The government has announced that the digitization of all transactions in the public sector will be done by June 2020.<\/p>\n<p>This means cash will no longer be accepted for service delivery in the public sector by June next year.<\/p>\n<p>According to Vice President, Dr. Muhammudu <strong>Bawumia<\/strong> who announced this at a forum organized by Ishmael Yamson and Associates, a pilot exercise has already been completed in the Tourism Ministry ahead of the implementation.<\/p>\n<p>He says the move is to block financial leakage in the public service.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cSo if you want a service, you would have to go to one portal so that you can do everything <strong>online<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He expressed optimism the exercise will increase domestic revenue.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWhen you do that you are eliminating a lot of middle men, of course goro boys,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Vice President while giving the indication a week earlier stressed that the\u00a0introduction of the cashless payment system was to reduce corruption, minimise human interaction and ensure efficiency in all government services.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/67Eu-UkewTw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Vice-President said the government would leverage all the old post offices across the districts to serve as Internet resource centres to provide the service.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cSince coming into office, the government has been guided by the understanding and conviction that technology is critical to transforming the Ghanaian economy and society as a whole.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>We view technology as a problem-solving tool; it allows us to break from the impossibility mindset,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWith technology, so many things which we thought were not possible become possible and we have to take advantage of it,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Dr Bawamia mentioned, among others, the E-justice system, the paperless port system, the drone delivery of medical supplies and the national identification card as some of the benefits of the use of technology.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"ctx-article-root\"\/>  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a style=\"display:none\" rel=\"follow\" href=\"http:\/\/megatheme.ir\/\" title=\"\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633\">\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The government has announced that the digitization of all transactions in the public sector will be done by June 2020.
