{"id":625826,"date":"2019-05-27T09:39:25","date_gmt":"2019-05-27T09:39:25","guid":{"rendered":"<br><div>\n<figure class=\"fff post-thumbnail\" itemprop=\"associatedMedia\" itemscope=\"\" itemtype=\"http:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\"><img class=\"post_layout_5_img\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ghana-mma.com\/2019\/04\/PDS.jpg\" alt=\"Debt of Krobo Odumase residents wasn\u2019t waived"},"modified":"2019-05-27T09:39:25","modified_gmt":"2019-05-27T09:39:25","slug":"debt-of-krobo-odumase-residents-wasnt-waived","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/05\/27\/debt-of-krobo-odumase-residents-wasnt-waived\/","title":{"rendered":"Debt of Krobo Odumase residents wasn&#8217;t waived"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<figure class=\"fff post-thumbnail\" itemprop=\"associatedMedia\" itemscope=\"\" itemtype=\"http:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"post_layout_5_img\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ghanamma.com\/2019\/04\/PDS.jpg\" alt=\"Debt of Krobo Odumase residents wasn\u2019t waived \u2013 PDS\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>Power Distribution Services (PDS) has described as \u2018inaccurate\u2019 reports that it has waived over GHS 100 million of the debt owed the company by residents of Krobo Odumase in the Eastern Region.<\/p>\n<p>The company in a statement said the downward review of the debt owed by the residents was as a result of a \u201cdata cleansing and reconciliation\u201d process it embarked upon.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>In the statement, it explained that \u201cthe initial debt of GHS195,725,500.29 was as a result of estimated bills of accumulated consumption due to challenges beyond the control of the then ECG\u2026 However in 2017, upon a series of engagements and negotiations, with the residents, the Company was granted access to capture their actual electricity consumption which led to the process of \u2018data cleansing and reconciliation\u2019 of their bills. This is a normal process of correcting billing anomalies. This exercise, therefore, revealed the actual amount owed by the Krobo residents to the tune of GHC 84,625,624.87, which is a reduction of the initial stated estimated debt.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>There was unrest in the area last week as the residents protested against PDS claiming they were being overbilled by the power company.<\/p>\n<p>A meeting between assembly members of the municipality, PDS and the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) culminated in an agreed roadmap to address the recurring clashes over non-payment of bills.<\/p>\n<p>The PDS after a data cleaning exercise reviewed the 195 million cedi arrears owed it to 84 million cedis.<\/p>\n<p>The parties among other things also agreed on a rescheduling payment plan for customers.<\/p>\n<p>However, in an interview with <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, the Head of Public Relations for PDS, William Boateng said installing prepaid meters will be the best solution going forward.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"ctx-article-root\"\/>  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a style=\"display:none\" rel=\"follow\" href=\"http:\/\/megatheme.ir\/\" title=\"\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633\">\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Power Distribution Services (PDS) has described as \u2018inaccurate\u2019 reports that it has waived over GHS 100 million of the debt owed the company by residents of Krobo Odumase in the Eastern Region.
