class=\"image_caption\"><span>General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"clear:right\">The General Secretary of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has told the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission directly in the face that if she acts respectably, she will earn the respect of others.<\/p>\n<p>During an altercation between Mr Nketia and Mrs Jean Mensa at an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting last week, the former told the head of the election management body that she could only earn his respect if she behaved respectfully.<\/p>\n<p>This was after Mrs Mensa had taken offence at a \u201claughter\u201d by Mr Nketia while she answered a question posed by the latter during the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr Asiedu Nketia, we gave you that respect when you were speaking, so, please allow us \u2026 You are making the asides and obstructing the discussion \u2026 You were laughing \u2026 It\u2019s like you\u2019re ridiculing us\u201d, Mrs Mensa protested.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Nketia punctuated the EC Chair\u2019s reservations saying: \u201cI haven\u2019t said anything madam \u2026 So laughter interrupts your presentation? \u2026 Please madam, I have kept quiet, I\u2019m not part of what is happening, if you have a personal problem against me, you may bring it up\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLaughter and disruption, which is which?\u201d he inquired. \u201cSo, if I\u2019m smiling it means I cannot smile \u2026 So, I cannot laugh?\u201d to which Mrs Mensa replied: \u201cBoth\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Asiedu then said: \u201cRespect is earned\u201d, explaining: \u201cIf you put yourself in a respectable position, people will respect you\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSame with you as well\u201d, Mrs Mensa is heard interrupting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLook, the question I asked, I don\u2019t think it solicited all the information you are bringing up\u201d, Mr Nketia said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt does she said\u201d, she responded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m asking you a simple question and you go on delivering a thesis\u201d, Mr Nketia
