\"MajorThe remains of late Major-General Francis Vib-Sanziri arrived Ghana Sunday<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The remains of late Major-General Francis Vib-Sanziri, the Head of Mission and Force Commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF), arrived in the country from Israel, on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The body was received at the VIP section of the Kotoka International Airport in Accra at about 11:00pm.<\/p>\n

The body was received by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) with a short prayer ceremony led by the Clergy of the Ghana Armed Forces.<\/p>\n

Officials present at the ceremony included the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lt-Gen Obed Boamah Akwa, Chief of Army Staff, Maj-Gen William Azure Ayamdo, Chief of the Naval Staff, R\/Adm Seth Amoama, Chief of Air Staff, AVM Frank Hanson and Chief of Staff at GHQ \u2013 Maj-Gen Thomas Oppong-Peprah.<\/p>\n

Government officials including the Minister for Defence, Dominic Nitiwul, Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey were also present.<\/p>\n

Director- General Welfare, Ghana Police Service and the widow COP Beatrice Vib-Sanziri was also at the airport with some family members to welcome the body.<\/p>\n

The body was subsequently sent to the 37 Military Hospital.<\/p>\n

The burial and final funeral arrangements are expected to be announced soon by the GAF after consultation with the deceased family.<\/p>\n

Major General Vib-Sanziri was appointed by the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres in October 2017 to head the Multi-National Force.<\/p>\n

He was the former Director-General of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) from 2015 to 2017.<\/p>\n

Major General Vib-Sanziri, aged 62 passed away suddenly on Friday, April 19, 2019 at Eilat, Israel.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
