There are a lot of things that can go wrong along the line, when you lose elections, it is not always a strong correlation with your acceptabilty or popularity, there are things that can go wrong, we have lost elections before, the 2004 election\u2026.In fact the 2000 election that we lost, 7 or 8 months after that defeat nobody could talk on radio speak on radio stations in Brong Ahafo on behalf of NDC.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd even if you were driving in town, you fear to identify yourself as NDC. So we saw that the mood of the population was for a change and they got the change.\u00a0Of course, it was fueled by propaganda trying to paint us as thieves\u2026 but this election[2016], the day after our defeat when I was driving through Accra I was still being cheered\u2026 That is why the party has been able to bounce back quickly, if elections were held today, the NPP won\u2019t be in government. The story will be different,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He also explained that the political atmosphere in the country is one that is clamouring for a comeback of the NDC, adding that results of the 2016 elections will not have any direct impact in the upcoming elections in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>He said, there were some very problematic occurrences leading to the outcome of the 2016 elections including when the then Electoral Commission chairperson announced that their system had been hacked.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, such a claim by the EC could potentially affect the integrity of the election result that saw the NDC\u2019s presidential candidate and then President losing to President Nana Akufo-Addo by nearly 1 million votes.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Asiedu Nketia who was a member of Parliament for Wenchi West constituency for 3 terms, was quick to add that although there were some challenges with the 2016 elections, the NDC placed the interest of the country first thereby acknowledging defeat.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2013<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"ctx-article-root\"\/>  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a style=\"display:none\" rel=\"follow\" href=\"http:\/\/megatheme.ir\/\" title=\"\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633\">\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The General\u00a0 Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has reiterated his party\u2019s positive chances going into the 2020 elections, adding that he is very confident in the capability of former President Mahama to recapture political power in the upcoming polls.
