File Photo<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Tension is mounting in the Volta regional arm of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as some constituency executives are kicking against a decision to allow regional executives to continue to serve in their portfolios after switching to the newly-created Oti Region.<\/p>\n
It will be recalled that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party issued some guidelines for the election of regional executives for the six new regions.<\/p>\n
The guidelines stipulated that all regional executives in the parent regions out of which the six new regions were carved out, shall remain in their positions except otherwise decided by the individual to move to a newly-created region.<\/p>\n
But there are agitations as to why these executives should not be allowed to go through electoral processes.<\/p>\n
This has created divisions, as some grassroots supporters are against the move.<\/p>\n
Class FM\u2019s Volta regional correspondent at Ho FM, Edudzi Aburu, reported that some concerned party supporters have subsequently petitioned the NEC for the regional Chairman of the Volta Region to be automatically made the Regional Chairman of the Oti Region.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the 18 Constituency Chairmen of the Volta Region have also written to the NEC indicating that they \u201care resolute and prepared to work with any of our brothers from Oti who intends to remain in Volta. After all, they were elected overwhelmingly as Volta executives in the first place\u201d.<\/p>\n
Below is the statement:<\/b><\/p>\n
VOLTA NDC CHAIRMEN POSITION ON VOLTA\/OTI EXECUTIVES MOVEMENT- 17\/04\/2019<\/p>\n
We, the constituency chairmen of Volta Region, have observed rather sadly, agitation by session (sections) of Voltarians on the above subject.<\/p>\n
It is our considered opinion that, to the extent that NEC decision, the guidelines for that matter, does not breach any party rule, we are ready to work with whoever opts to stay in Volta. We the chairmen have good working relationship with all the current executives. Everything is taking shape for victory 2020 in our various constituencies. We therefore see it as unfortunate, (why) a simple issue ground in law should be reduced to (only one person) (an endless banter around personality)<\/p>\n
Reiterating our position, NEC decision has far reaching benefits for our cross-cultural coexistence. (Literally),Volta\/Oti are one regardless of the recent split. It’s sad some (unseen hands)are reducing this to pedestrian issues which run counter to our unity in diversify.<\/p>\n
(Our laws must be respected. We are strongly against any attempt to use, structures unknown to the party to disturb the peace of Volta\/Oti)<\/p>\n
We appeal to NEC to (as a matter of urgency) intervene to (restore sanity and normalcy among all stakeholders and various interest groups in order to guarantee that progress made so far in respect of victory 2020 are not eroded by this unfortunate devt) groups bring those splinter groups who doesn’t want to play by the rule to order.<\/p>\n
(The matter in issue is well grounded in our party constitution reference Art 8 and 40 of NDC Constitution) guess this fits into paragraph 2, or?<\/p>\n
We once again assure NEC and the party leadership that the Constituency Chairmen are resolute and prepared to work with any of our brothers from Oti who intends to remain in Volta. After all, they were elected overwhelming as Volta Executives in the first place.<\/p>\n
Let our law and guidelines prevail.<\/p>\n
On this note, we humbly appeal to NEC to let the status quo remain and treat all the amorphous group with care.<\/p>\n
