Today, the main company that is helping develop the infrastructure system in Ghana is Sinohydro, it is a Chinese Company. It is the one that is going to help process our bauxite and provide about two billion dollars to us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo when there are these kinds of arrangements, there are other things behind the scenes. Putting that lady (Aisha) in jail in Ghana is not going to solve your economic problems. It is not going to make you happy or me happy, that\u2019s not important, the most important thing is that she has been deported from Ghana\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026I am saying that there are many other things beyond what we see in these matters and everybody is wide awake, the most important thing is that we have banned this, we have established regulations and we are protecting our environment. That is far more important than one Chinese woman who has been deported out of the country\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>But in a tweet hours ago, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu slammed the Akufo-Addo government for the double standards in dealing with ordinary people as against Foreign nationals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo send armed men after unemployed Ghanaian youth engaged in Galamsey and have some of them jailed for the offence and publicly justify your refusal to prosecute a foreign national who commits the same offence, is a shocking betrayal of the mandate of the people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>Deportation<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Aisha and four other Chinese nationals who were arrested for their involvement in illegal mining (galamsey) in Ghana, were deported after the state filed a nolle prosequi to discontinue the trial.<\/p>\n<p>A State Attorney, Ms Mercy Arthur, presented the application for nolle prosequi to the Accra High Court, presided over by Mr Justice Charles Ekow Baiden.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the application, the court discharged the five accused persons.<\/p>\n<p>She was charged with three counts of undertaking small-scale mining operations, contrary to Section 99 (1) of the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703); providing mining support services without valid registration with the Minerals Commission, contrary to the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703), and the illegal employment of foreign nationals, contrary to the Immigration Act, 2000 (Act 573).<\/p>\n<p>The other four accused persons were charged with disobedience of directives given by or under the Immigration Act, 2000 (Act 573).<\/p>\n<p>According to the prosecution, Aisha had a mining concession at Bepotenten and also operated a mining support services company.<\/p>\n<p>The four other accused persons, it said, were employed by Aisha to work at the mining site.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecution claimed checks at the Minerals Commission, however, revealed that Aisha had no licence to operate either a mine or a mining support services company.<\/p>\n<p>They also contended that the visas issued to all the five Chinese by the Ghana Embassy in Beijing, China, did not allow them to work in Ghana.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a style=\"display:none\" rel=\"follow\" href=\"http:\/\/megatheme.ir\/\" title=\"\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633\">\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>General News of Friday, 19 April 2019 Source: kasapafmonline.com 2019-04-19 Former Deputy Minister for Information, Felix Kwakye Ofosu Former Deputy Minister of Information under erstwhile Mahama administration, Felix Kwakye Ofosu says government\u2019s refusal to prosecute Chinese galamsey kingpin Aisha Huang is \u201ca shocking betrayal of the mandate of the people.\u201d His comment comes after the [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":608814,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-608886","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-local-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.7 -
