{"id":608863,"date":"2019-04-19T15:03:45","date_gmt":"2019-04-19T15:03:45","guid":{"rendered":"<br><div>\n<p class=\"floatLeft\">General News of Friday, 19 April 2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"floatRight\"><strong>Source: <\/strong>classfmonline.com<\/p>\n2019-04-19\n\n<div class=\"article-left\">\n<p class=\"article-image\"><img src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ghana-mma.com\/2019\/04\/99024"},"modified":"2019-04-19T15:03:45","modified_gmt":"2019-04-19T15:03:45","slug":"movenpick-saga-this-isnt-any-serious-matter-they-cant-jaw-jaw-about-mp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/04\/19\/movenpick-saga-this-isnt-any-serious-matter-they-cant-jaw-jaw-about-mp\/","title":{"rendered":"M\u00f6venpick saga: &#8216;This isn&#8217;t any serious matter they can&#8217;t jaw-jaw about&#8217; \u2013 MP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"floatLeft\">General News of Friday, 19 April 2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"floatRight\"><strong>Source: <\/strong>classfmonline.com<\/p>\n<p>2019-04-19<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-left\">\n<p class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ghanamma.com\/2019\/04\/99024109.295.jpg\" alt=\"Movenpick\" title=\"Movenpick\" width=\"295\" height=\"196\" \/><span class=\"image_caption\"><span>Workers have threatened to embark on another strike if the General Manager is not removed<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"clear:right\">Aggrieved workers of M\u00f6venpick Ambassador Hotel must use dialogue to resolve their grievances with the management, the Chairman of the Employment, Social Welfare and State Enterprise Committee of Parliament, Mr Ayim Adu-Antwi, has said.<\/p>\n<p>The workers were scheduled to meet the management of the hotel on Thursday, 18 April 2019 over alleged racial discrimination against Ghanaian workers.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting followed a strike by the workers on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting will also involve the Industrial &amp; Commercial Workers Union.<\/p>\n<p>According to the workers, Ghanaian staff are treated harshly and dismissed for misdemeanours while expatriate staff are let off the hook for the same offences.<\/p>\n<p>They have also threatened to embark on another strike if the General Manager, Michael Rathgeb is not removed.<\/p>\n<p>However, Mr Adu-Antwi told Class91.3FM on Thursday that when situations such as that arise for the first time, \u201cI mean industrial action is never the best. To me, dialogue [is the way to go]. \u2026 When it\u2019s government employment, you could be reinstated if you\u2019re dismissed, but [with] the private one, the employer doesn\u2019t need a reason to terminate your appointment; straightaway, you could be dismissed. Once your employers target you, you could just be dismissed that you\u2019re actually bringing unrest into the company.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would rather say that the union must come together and seek an audience with the employers. This is not any serious matter that they cannot go to the settlement table and discuss and that would be my advice. Obviously, the company will not be closed down; obviously, the company would continue to employ, either to engage these employees or take other employees. The issues would continue to come.
