{"id":608740,"date":"2019-04-19T05:00:58","date_gmt":"2019-04-19T05:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"<br><div>\n<p class=\"floatLeft\">Business News of Friday, 19 April 2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"floatRight\"><strong>Source: <\/strong>Myjoyonline.com <\/p>\n2019-04-19\n\n<div class=\"article-left\">\n<p class=\"article-image\"><img src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ghana-mma.com\/2019\/03\/84859"},"modified":"2019-04-19T05:00:58","modified_gmt":"2019-04-19T05:00:58","slug":"pds-blames-gridco-for-thursdays-intermittent-power-outages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/04\/19\/pds-blames-gridco-for-thursdays-intermittent-power-outages\/","title":{"rendered":"PDS blames GRIDco for Thursday\u2019s intermittent power outages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"floatLeft\">Business News of Friday, 19 April 2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"floatRight\"><strong>Source: <\/strong>Myjoyonline.com <\/p>\n<p>2019-04-19<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-left\">\n<p class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ghanamma.com\/2019\/03\/84859883.295.jpg\" alt=\"PDS Logo\" title=\"PDS Logo\" width=\"295\" height=\"293\" \/><span class=\"image_caption\"><span>Power Distribution Service logo<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"clear:right\">A string of power outages that has struck southern parts of Accra Thursday morning, is \u201cdue to unstable power supply from GRIDco\u201d says the Power Distribution Services (PDS).<\/p>\n<p>PDS has informed its consumers that they are working to rectify the situation and has assured that power supply will be restored soon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe inconvenience is very much regretted,\u201d reads a PDS statement.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, PDS announced that it would cut off power in parts of the country. <\/p>\n<p>The request was ordered to enable GRIDCo to construct a 330kV overhead line between Kumasi and Aboadze.<\/p>\n<p>The outage lasted for six consecutive days \u2013 from 11th April until 17th April and affected areas including Tarkwa, Bogoso, Asawinso and Juaboso, among others.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Institute of Energy Security condemned news from the Energy Ministry last week suggesting that someone intentionally torched a gas pipeline at the Tema enclave to keep Ghanaians without power, according to a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The Ghanaian think tank group said that shortly after the Ministry made the comments, representatives of the group visited the pipeline only to find that the pipeline was under construction and was filled with raw water.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe IES is getting worried about the posture of Government represented by the Energy Ministry towards recent acts of vandalism on energy infrastructure,\u201d said an IES representative.<\/p>\n<p>IES likened the Ministry\u2019s remarks \u2013 delivered by Nana Kofi Oppong Damoah, Head of Communication and Public Affairs at the Energy Ministry \u2013 to that of Peter Amewu, the head of the Ministry.<\/p>\n<p>According to the organisation, Amewu sought to blame the issue on political sabotage just as he did when GRIDCo\u2019s Transmission tower in Tema was hacked down.
